The coordinates are a little misleading. They take you to a neighborhood. You should actually drive past the neighborhood and the field is right before the swamp tours parking lot at the end of the road. There are porta potties on site. I stayed the night before New Year’s Eve and there were quite a few other people, but still plenty of room to park. There isn’t a lot of privacy and I did notice a lot of people being reckless and going to bed with still burning campfires.
I followed the other reviewers advice and went with #838. There are tons of dispersed camping options in Ashley National Forest. I stayed at this site on a Monday and I was the only one there.
Stayed two nights in this spot. Very close proximity to Black Canyon NP. My Subaru Crosstrek didn’t have any issues making it up the hill to some of the back sites, but I wouldn’t try it in a sedan. It was dry when I was there, but I imagine the road becomes impassable when wet.
A great spot very close to the Badlands. Lots of open space for everyone. Like others have mentioned, the wind does get pretty intense. The sunrise view was incredible!
