Other spot I usually go was full. Only down side was the sketchy camphost didn’t honor my America the beautiful pass even tho this is in national forest. Great water access tho, bathrooms and trash and water.
Great place! A creek, bumpy gravel Road might not work for sedan always, but worth a try. Tons of hiking, including a closer one to strawberry lake with stunning views and a waterfall further if you want. No cell service for me, but bathrooms and a small amount of first come first serve sites. Others earlier along the road if these fill up
Great sites especially in fall with aspen groves. Dusty road but all gravel- drove in with my little Nissan Sentra just fine. Water and pit toilets, access to fishing, canoe, swimming altho a little muddy at times. Wildflowers and access to blm land.
One of my favorite off of phone signal spots! Love watching the American dippers “dip” under this Bombay sapphire colored McKenzie River. The bottom loop spots are to die for!
I stayed in a yurt here a couple times as a cheap stop over on road trips. Nice river walk along the tumalo across the street from campground. Less busy in off season, reservations recommended. Firewood, showers and great clean bathrooms. Right off highway and close to Bend for anything you need.
If you want to have epic pristine cool dips in the summer and waterfalls around- access to a great English style brew pub down the road in town, and always helpful camp host- snag one of these first come first serve sites. Well worth it. No water here but clean pit toilets.
This place can get crowded in the 30-50 sites- but great rv sites out back, great bathrooms. Everything still lush and trees and great short hike to the beach. No phone service for me which was a nice break- great access to China loop and hobbit hike all the way to heceta lighthouse for rhododendron and coastal rainforest, huckleberry laden views. One of my favorite spots. Really private “wheel your stuff in” sites 70-75 with own parking lot for great solitude with all the amenities of a state park. Yurts also available but usually booked way in advance
I love Florence! Just 5 minutes away from old town for great coffee shop under the bridge and great margaritas at the travelers cove and gateway to the coast trails. This campground is great for bird, mushrooms, walks, even paddle bots at nearby cleowox lake. Rangers were helpful finding a spot for my needs: quiet tent site away from the crowd. It does get filled up on weekends with families and some sites more private than others so just ask to drive thru and pick your spot first. Yurts and hook ups available too. State park
Great spot for cheap and restful accommodation while Visiting wine country. Yurts, and campsites, pull thru and rv sites. Not super cheap cuz you are in California but way more affordable than any hotel and 5 minutes from Calistoga, thru vineyard lined lanes. Lots of hikes for a hike level. Mosquitos started coming out but tolerable. Nice trickling river and peaceful pondering spots. Great bathrooms but bring lots of quarters for showers, helpful staff! Rico you are the best for giving me firewood!
Basic campsites, but some are very private. Either sides of camp offer amazing longer hikes to gorges coming off the steens mountain range. Fall colors were amazing, and still some water from the little Indian and blitzen rivers. Coyotes at night, pit toilets, solitude, plenty of trees. Is hot and dry in summer, but the exploration around it is breathtaking. Long dusty road but worth it. Wild horses and scenic
To truly feel the awe of this place it is best done driving out onto the lake bed and sleeping in the wild. You need to bring everything you’ll need. And very important: tag or mark your spot with gps if planning time leave playa to come back. The desert plays tricks on your eyes. The stunning steens mountain range and quiet are unmatched. Hot springs and good hikes and milkshakes nearby. Treat yourself
This is a gorgeous campground in a state park with something for everyone’s level. I stayed in cabins near agate beach, and also a campsite with tent earlier in campground near entrance. Reservations recommended. Hikes along the coast, more difficult ones up and down to beaches and coastline, paved paths for walks, proper bathrooms, showers, water. Near town of Trinidad for pizza always a plus
When all other nearby campgrounds were full, we came here. Great spot in between Florence and yachats. Close to heceta light house, right before sea lion caves, and close to hikes and away from crowds. Unfortunately it was full so we just dry camped for free down the road in a pull out. Corrals for horses, not a lot of water but pit toilets and away from road noise in the forest. The turn into this road from Highway is a sharp one and immediately uphill. Probably not for anyone towing large trAilers but if your skilled you can try it out.
Camped late Early October nights dipped into 20s, pretty crisp For tent camping, but days were in 60s. Beautiful blitzen right there, birds, deer, raccoons, hiking and wilderness exploration nearby.
This campground is a gem in the middle of the Oregon coast. Great location to go south towards dunes, or north towards beaches, hikes, and more. More of an Rv friendly site and higher priced than campsites per night- (30-35$) but easy coastal access down the road, great sunset views, park like atmosphere, FREE HOT SHOWERS!, and safety are worth it.
