Great location, but not a good experience

Camping Review:

This campsite is beautifully located in the woods, offering a peaceful and serene environment. There are no busy roads nearby, which ensures a quiet setting during the day.

However, there are several downsides to consider. The camping spots are uneven, making it challenging to set up tents or campers. Additionally, swimming at the nearby beach is restricted to residents of the village, so visitors are not allowed to swim there.

During our stay, there were multiple large groups, including a Christian group that preached (screamingly) and played loud music until midnight, despite the designated quiet hours. Unfortunately, the management did nothing to enforce the rules, which was disruptive.

Another significant issue was the state of the sanitary facilities. They were extremely dirty, with feces present in various places. It took a long time before anything was cleaned, which obviously kept us from using the facilities.

Overall, while the location is beautiful, the poor management, noise issues, and dirty sanitary facilities seriously detract from the experience.

Wonderful

This is one of the best places we saw. We were here during a quiet period in August. The pitches are spacious and shaded.

The sanitary building is clean with good showers.

There is a lovely pond in which you can swim. It is somewhat small when crowded but nevertheless very lovely.

The water in the pond is not streaming so be prepared for mosquitoes when camping close to the water.

There is a well maintained playground for kids and there are activities planned for kids and adults.

We would definitely return.

Lovely campground

We stayed here for three nights. The kids loved the playground but missed a swimming pool.

Toilets en showers are dated but doable.

Sites have quite some privacy and are shaded. Campground is peaceful and d quiet

It has a very nice shop with sitting room and game room. Well maintained and staff is very friendly. We would definitely visit Shady Knoll again.

OK for two nights

We stayed for two nights to visit Burlington and lake Champlain.

It was not our favorite campground. The site are open, so no privacy and the sites are fairly small.

Toilets and showers are ok but nothing fancy. A bit worn.

Cramped but close to Newport

This is an RV camp with mostly regulars and a couple of spots for passersby and short stay.

We were received very friendly by a nice lady who told us everything about the camp and its surroundings.

Our site had power and water. There are no showers of toilets. They have a dump station.

This camp was not our favorite but it was close to Newport and the beach.

Great place for families

This campground is wonderful for camping with kids. It has a great playground and a small but nice and clean pool.

The amenities are clean and well taken care of.

Super nice staff is the finishing touch for this great campground.

Spaces are reasonably spacious and in wooded area.

We would definitely recommend.

Spacious, green and private

We stayed here for two nights. We had a nice spot on the c-loop.

The spaces are (more or less) private and spacious. The best thing about this camp ground is the total darkness and silence at night. A truly wonderful experience in a world that often is polluted by light.

Close by are two nice hiking trails and a lighthouse. All definitely worth a visit.

We would definitely return.

Good place to see the surroundings

The reception at this campground is very friendly. Pitches are fairly spacious, but still a bit close together. Garbage is picked up in the morning, which is very nice.

The sanitary facilities are quite outdated and, in addition, could definitely be a bit cleaner.

The pool is clean, but everything around it also looks very outdated and worn.

We had a pleasant time here and would definitely recommend this place for a few days.

Nice for one or two nights

The 30 amp sites are very close together.

The campground layout is quite unusual, with campers parked lengthwise along the road. This means that you share the space where you sit outside with the camper behind you, resulting in very little privacy. It feels cramped, and you’re constantly close to your neighbors. If you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded camping experience, this setup might not be ideal.

The facilities are ok but dated and could be cleaner. The beach is a short 15-minute walk.

For children, there is a swimming pool, a basketball court and a small playground

All in all, this is a good campground if you are on the road and want to spend a night or two exploring the area.
