Great location

Nice and clean. Vault toilets. There’s water, but not sure if it’s potable, there wasn’t a sign. No trash service, you have to pack it out. There is an area for your horse. Walk in sites, rv/car camp/van/tent sites. It’s first come first serve, no reservations and it’s free.

Wake up the the sound of the ocean

This was a great stopover. I didn't get to spend a lot of time here. But this was a favorite. Everything was clean and level.

And you get beach access

Woke up to a cup of coffee and a walk on the beach. Level sites with hook ups. Clean restroom and showers. This place is huge, I had to use my maps to get back out of the campground. It doesn't feel huge when you are at your site.

A lot of dogs! Not usually an issue, but many people do not leash their dogs at the campground and do not have recall on their dog. As soon as I arrived two dogs ran up and jumped on me. Not ok. I'm glad my dog wasn't with me, he would have lost his mind.

Choose your Adventure

This place had it all; open RV camping, secluded van camping, tree canopy car/tent camping, walk-in camping, and themed safari tent camping, and one cute mini airstream.

Lake down the road. Water and electrical hookups, dump station with dump water and fresh water.

Restrooms and showers are scattered around. Showers are coin based and there is a machine to turn your dollars into coins.

It's a place to sleep

I struggled with this place, it would be really great if the two lot areas were level. There isn't a level spot anywhere. That is my only complaint, except for the people who parked right in front of the only restroom for the entire night. That was weird trying to get around their overspilled car to use the restroom.

Plenty of room for people to camp. There was one car when we arrived, and more pulled up throughout the night. You can walk down to the lake and sit on the dock to watch the sunset.

My favorite campground

First come first serve. This was my favorite campground. From the different campsites to the sun setting over the lake, to the people I met. I've never seen so many camp cats on leashes. I think I counted 7 cats out with their owners enjoying nature. Plenty of restrooms, and lots of different loops to choose from.

At the time of my visit, there was heavy black bear activity. No soft side camping aloud. You had to stay within reach of your food to be able to quickly grab it and retreat into your vehicle if the black bear was in camp. There was a dead moose on the other side of the lake, so the hiking trail was closed. We did see the bear along the trees, but it didn't come into camp that night.

Very Open Campground

There wasn't any shade, but it was good for September. The view was beautiful. The restrooms were clean. There were only two showers open for the whole campsite. Showers are located in the upper loop. The camp host was very helpful.

There was a creepy man camping, who approached me several times inviting me to come back to his site with him. I had to pass his site every time I went to the restroom/shower. Please don't be a creeper! A reciprocated "good morning" doesn't mean anything more.

Just about as close to nature as you can get

First come first serve sites. We filled the last spot. Ranger came by to let everyone know there was a nature talk across the main road. We walked over with a group of people. Saw a black bear at the end of the road. During the nature talk, the same bear popped out of the trees to eat some berries. The ranger warned of the black bear activity in the campground and remained people of proper food storage.

Across the main road is an area for picnicking, hiking, and swimming. There is a nice nature trail along the water and a raised walking platform amongst the trees. The site was flat and clean.

The restrooms were clean. The view was beautiful with trails. The back overgrown area is where the workers and volunteers camp. Showers are within walking distance at the general store. In the same parking lot as the tiny hotel and restaurant.

I cannot wait to come back

Spacious and clean sites. They have many different size spaces all listed on their website. The restrooms have showers, there is a laundry area, they have a little store, and serve food at the cafe. There is a hiking trail, but we didn't get to explore it. This was right outside Glacier National Park. We stayed here to start the Going to the Sun road. At the site, you can opt to have electrical and water hookups if you need them.

Gorgious and Spacious

I was finally able to make it out to this spot. The sites were clean with plenty of restrooms and showers. There are a couple of loops with many sites. Reservations are recommended as the sites fill up fast. Keep an eye out for cancelations; that's how we managed to book our site. There is a nature loop in the campground and Ten Falls is down the street.

Very open and loud

We booked a site and pulled up to a massive amount of people. Sat at our site for an hour and left. The trees are skinny and tall, so you see everyone in the camp. It felt more like a group campsite but spaced out. We were hoping for a little more separation from all the people. It was a little too going on and hard to block out the noise. We were looking for a camp that was more secluded.

Relaxing

Great place to relax, enjoy hiking trails, nap to the sound of the river and enjoy a roomy site.

Great stop over

Close to trails. Found this by exploring the area and stopped in to sleep. Plenty of open spots. I will come back.

Great Find

After a long drive, we visited the Lava Tubes and found a campsite at Indian Wells. The open sky and views were gorgeous. The night sky with very minimal light pollution was even better. If you like astrophotography or star gazing, this is a great location. Just remember when you hear a rustle in the tumbleweeds, and your headlamp catches the reflection of eyes low to the ground, it's likely deer munching on ground covering and not something that makes you grab your gear and back away from the road. When we returned to our site, we saw tons of deer rummaging through campsites.

WALK IN SITES ONLY

We booked this not knowing this was a walk-in site only. Nothing said walk-in site only. Just that it was a tent site, which usually means you park next to your site. We have a Jeep with a rooftop tent. So no tent to walk in. We arrived after being on trail all week and had to abandon the site and get a hotel. Asked for a refund and we received a partial even though we screen shot the info. We couldn't use our site. Since then the info seems to be updated which is good. But it should be BOLD.

Peace and Clear Lake Views

We stayed in the first camping spot when you drove through the rock obstacle course. We had a big group, about 6 rigs. Restrooms were out from the storm, but we brought WAG bags and there was a good hill with lots of trees to use for privacy. The site was big and flat for our rooftop tents. It is primitive, bring water or filter water from the lake. We swam in the lake, it was so clear and the temperature was great. There are many trails to explore. We drove and hiked the lookout tour and followed some trails.

Surprise Camping

Went on a backpacking trip in Lassen and parked at this campsite for the trailhead. The last day of our trip there wasn't any water in the backcountry and decided to just hike out to this campsite and try to get a spot. We found a great campsite to park my jeep at. Very clean with a lot of room. you can collect firewood from downed trees. The only downside was that you have to park on the parking pads that are not level. I have a Jeep with a rooftop tent, and you can't park at dramatic angles. We parked on the dirt, and they let it slide. We were so exhausted and just wanted to relax.

Big open sites but restroom needs a lot of TLC

Great open sites that are maintained. The Restroom was scary between the spider infestation and wasps, I'd rather nature potty, but there was little to duck behind. Plus, you don't want the area to smell bad with so many people leaving tp or trash. A better restroom toilet or vault toilets would be better.

Cutest little cabins

We booked a cute little cabin, even though we had a van and tents because is looked like a good experience. We had bunk beds, with a desk and chairs. Outside we had a picnic table with a fire ring. Clean sites and cabin, showers, and restroom. There are washing machines on site. I would camp her again and stay in another cabin.

Soothing River Sounds

We stayed here most of the time while visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Open space, assigned campsites for tent and RV/Van. Clean sites, restrooms and showers. This was close to the North entrance. Great town to drive through and places to eat and get gas.
