We thought this campground was absolutely gorgeous. I guess some people don’t like to rough it a little and expect toilet paper in the bathrooms lol. Next time stay inside your RV. We spent a nice peaceful quiet night here on super bowl weekend. Don’t know why people are saying it’s remote when there’s a main highway only a few miles away and ranch houses near by and cell Service. The dirt road is in great condition and don’t need a 4x4 at all. It’s only 2 miles of dirt road to the campground and the rest is paved. Theres a nice trail that leads to the creek but unfortunately wasn’t flowing right next to camp but it was just upstream. Plenty of firewood to gather from fallen trees nearby. We didn’t see anyone the whole weekend and we had a great time. There are plenty of flat spots to set up a tent and had no problem at all.
Good place to stay when all campgrounds inside Joshua tree are full. Spent one night here and it was great. A lot of people were doing donuts which was cool to watch. A lot of open space out here to have fun.
We did not know it was hunting season… so it was surprising to see so many hunters gathered up at selby campground. We decided to stay at klc instead which was much more peaceful. Temperatures were well in the high 90s so to see some nice trees that provided shade at this site was the best. It was a pleasure to share the site with an owl that kept hooting all night. We visited some awesome sites and abandoned ranches. Definitely a great spot to stay at in Carrizo plain.
Great campground with seven sites. We drove through dry cattle grazing area and arrived to a beautiful oak shaded campground. We spent a weekend here and there were only a few other campers here. Camp sites are spacious and well dispersed. Pit toilets were clean. Creek was dry. Great hiking around campground. No cell service.
You don’t need a 4wd for the whole length of Sierra Madre rd. but would highly recommend it and would not recommend a passenger car. The dirt road to get to camp is about 10 miles. The road is bumpy but In good condition overall, we made it on a stock height 2wd truck. We arrived on Saturday 4th of July and all the sites were taken so we decided to drive another 15 miles up the road to a nice shaded location just right off the road. Didn’t see anybody the whole night. The next morning we drove up even more to McPherson peak where the views are amazing. We drove back down the road back to Miranda pines and everybody had left, we had the whole campground to ourselves. There was a full moon that night that lit up everything beautifully. It did get very windy that night. The campground consist of three sites and does have a pit toilet. All sites are great and offer great views. Cell phone service was on and off so don’t rely on it.
Located right off highway 33 in Ventura California. This campground sits were the historical town of Foster Park once stood, which was torn down to build the highway. There are actually two campgrounds here separated by an abandoned road, Red Mountain and Foster Park residence campground. We stayed at the residence campground which offers some nice primitive tent sites. With lots of Boulders and old tables and abandoned buildings this campground was perfect. Foster park bowl, an old abandoned amphitheater is just a short walk away. Campground sits in close proximity to either Ventura or Ojai. The campground host was nice and friendly. All the tent sites were unoccupied so we were the only ones there which was great.
Nice, quiet and beautiful campground. Campground host was super nice and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and flushable. Creek was flowing and had an abundance of toads. Water was available from the many spigots around the campground. The soothing sound of the flowing creek and the hooting of an owl made for a peaceful night. Ample distance from other sites which gives some privacy. The upper equestrian sites were closed off due to the access road being washed out.
Stopped by on our way to Nira. Had lunch on one of the sites close to the Davy Brown Trail. Only one family camping on this day. Campground was in good shape with good water flow in the creek. Very serene and peaceful area.
Beautiful drive to get to Nira with stunning views. Had a nice visit having the whole campground to ourselves, although the nearby trailheads had several cars. The sites are nicely dispersed with a running creek nearby. The creek had a good flow and the oak trees provide lots of shade. Campground has bathrooms and dumpsters on site. The whole area is serene and pleasing. We took a small hike on the lower manzana trail which had awesome views.
Nice small campground with Rancho Nuevo creek flowing right next to it. We had to walk about a mile and a half to the campground as the seasonal gate was closed. Campground consist of three sites with fire rings with steel grated stoves. Campground gives you access to Rancho Nuevo Trail which has beautiful cliffs and great scenery all around. No cell service no toilets no water , so come prepared.
Beautiful drive down grade valley to get to this awesome site. We were looking for a more remote place to camp and this site satisfied all our needs. We were the only ones there and the scenery was pleasing. There is access to some nice hiking trails of Los Padres National Forest. There was some water still available in the nearby creek.
A nice alternative to the higher campgrounds near Mt Pinos. Went on Labor Day weekend and surprisingly there were not that many other campers. Nice well separated sites with awesome views of lock wood valley and Frazier mountain. Area is a great for star gazing and ohv riding. Took a great scenic drive up to Frazier mountain lookout. Bathrooms and camp sites were clean. Great scenery all around and overall a beautiful campground.
It’s a nice drive to get to the campground. Nice clean area with lots of space. Love it that’s it’s a Walk in campground so no cars or RVs. Lots of Hiking trails nearby. It’s a lot cooler up here so it’s a nice way to get away from the summer heat. Awesome area for stargazing. The bathrooms could use some cleaning but other than that it’s a beautiful area.
Camped out July 21 -22 2019 at Reyes creek campground. We got the last available spot as we showed up late that afternoon. Plenty of fish in the creek. Temp was well in the mid 90s … it was super hot. We still managed to do a small hike up the piedra Blanca trail to upper Reyes. Trail is brushy in some areas with some washouts in others. Some beautiful shaded areas where we took a few breaks to get away from the heat.
Nice clean park with great views of our local mountains and the Ojai valley. One of the things we didn’t like was that the lower sites are so close to the highway and traffic can get noisy during the day. However once nighttime comes around it gets really quiet. Hoping to get a upper site on our next visit. Overall, the park is a nice weekend getaway with out having to drive so far.
Visited during Memorial Day weekend which made the park extremely busy. Would recommend visiting during a non -holiday. However the campsite we stayed at was a bit secluded from other campsites which was great for a little bit of privacy. Our site had Two picnic tables and a fire ring situated under a pine tree with excellent views of the lake. We were glad to discover the park was dog friendly. However we did encounter some ticks so be aware and wear proper repellant. Overall the park is beautiful and we had a good time.
