Nice Find

Nice find in the forest. Very peaceful with huge sites. There are only 3 sites for tent camping. If you have a camper or RV very large parking lot to camp in. Nice hiking trails throughout the sno-park that we took advantage of. We got up next morning and hike the falls down the Hwy. Camp sites are right off Hwy. A little Hwy. noise but at night fall only a couple of cars. We did pack out a lot of other people’s trash at both sites. Sad to see so much trash left behind when there are garbage cans right next to the pit toilets. Definitely will come back.

Quiet State Park

We were surprised how quiet this state park was during our visit. Very clean and beautiful green grass through campground. Enjoyed the river trail along the John Day river. Perfect to cool off in during the hot summer months. Mosquitoes definitely come out at night and we were tent camping. A little highway noise at night but not bad.

Great Swimming

Enjoyed spending a hot day playing in the river and cooling off. Very quiet campground with pretty large sites. Our site overlooked the river.

Peaceful Retreat

Nice small quite campground. Enjoyed the miles of hiking with TH right at the campground. A very friendly deer kept visiting us during our stay. Enjoyed cooling off in the small creek that runs through the edge of campground.

Hidden Gem

Camped three nights along with hiking the trails near by. Campground was very quiet with many open spots. Our site was very large and had a beautiful view of the reservoir. We had two eagles that were hanging out in a tree right next to us. It was a real treat to watch the eagles for a few days. I brought my paddle board and enjoyed the peaceful reservoir. The wind does pick up every afternoon so secure your tent. Fishing was amazing and we caught and released many fish back into lake. Bring your own water. There is a pump but it is out of order. We definitely will be coming back. All the near by hiking trails were amazing. Four days on the trails and we didn’t see a sole.

Wildflower base camp

Nice quiet state park campground with river views. Great spot to set up camp and hit the trails for wildflower season. Tons of hiking trails nearby. At night you will hear the highway traffic and trains. Very clean campground.

Nice State Park Surprise

We hardly ever stay at State Parks due to we like less people. This visit was wonderful. Our site was very large and private. Campground was very quiet. We enjoyed the miles of hiking trails that were connected to the park. We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful area!

Paradise along the river

Enjoyed tent camping along the river. Small trails lead you down to the trail from camp site. Very clean campground. Camp host Kevin was wonderful and full of information about the area. Had fun playing horseshoe that was in the campground. Loves that they had fire buckets out through the campground so fired can be put out completely. Definitely will be coming back.

Happy Campers

Great spot to camp with a quick drive to Smith Rock. We had fun hiking many of the trails within the area. Several TH right next to campground. Very quiet and peaceful campground. The cattle in the morning will sing to you at their feeding time from their near by ranch. Our site had plenty of space to spread out along with shade in the hotter point of the day. It was in the upper 90s.  We had beautiful sunsets each night.

Favorite campground

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Nice large sites with space between sites. Campground is very quite. Plenty of hiking without having to drive to a TH. More hiking all around the area that you can drive to TH. Waterfalls are beautiful. Nice little hike down to Carmen reservoir for swimming. Super cold water but feels good on a hot day.

Nice Base Camp

Nice little state park. Sites are really close to each other. We are tent campers and usually don’t do state parks. It was a nice early season camping spot. We used this as our base camping for hiking. We covered many miles on the OTC trail and surrounding beaches. The sunset was beautiful the nights we started. Definitely would come back to this campground.

Quiet

Very quite campground mid week. Had the place to ourselves. Great little hiking trail steps from our site. Easy access to the water for some swimming. Smoke blew in from wildfires. Visibility very low but still beautiful.

Camping along the creek

Great camping with large sites. Beautiful creel running along the campground. Great little swimming spots along creek. Hiking up the road about 5 miles. Very peaceful and quiet campground.

Relaxing on the Coulmbia

Nice small first come first service sites along the Columbia and free. We had a great spot on the River with beautiful views of Mt. Hood and the Gorge. Great little swimming spot steps from our spot. Trains will come every hour and tracks are close to sites. A few wineries within a mile and one about .5 miles from spot. We will be back to this great find.

Amazing sunsets

Enjoyed exploring the badlands steps from our camp site. Convenient to many trails. Very quiet and relaxing. Views from camp site were beautiful and the sunsets are breathtaking. Definitely will be coming back again.

Base Camp

Perfect campground for a weekend of hiking. So many trails close to camp ground. Campground sits along a river. Most sites are large and have room to move around. Sites are all walk in sites. Two pit toilets. One pit toilet doesn’t lock. Water at campground with pump. All sites are first come. Very quite and peaceful.

Quite in the forest

Beautiful quiet campground. Perfect location to many Hiking THs. Sites a large with plenty of room between sites. No running water and one pit toilet. Definitely will be back again.

Little Paradise

Nice campground with a small beautiful lake. Very quite and about 6 to seven sites. All sites are fist come. Sites would not accommodate a large RV or trailer. Vaulted toilet. Lake is refreshing to swim in.

Great County Park

Great county park campground. The sites a pretty private. Lots of trees around each site to block the wind. Super clean campground. Great location with a nice hike down to the beach.

Cute RV park

Cute little RV park off the highway. Very quite with a small lake. Families can enjoy fishing, swimming, yard games, fire pit, and very dog friendly with a fenced dog park. We are tent campers and had a nice spot on lake. only a few tent sites. Super clean bathrooms with hot shower.
