Beautiful Location

We stayed at Madison campground in July 2019. The location is amazing! The Madison and Firehole Rivers converge close to this campground and the views in the valley are stunning! Our campsite was within walking distance to the river. Our site sat in a grove of trees and we had no issues setting up our tent as the ground was level. The campsite was very quiet, we could hear a little road noise from time to time but it wasn’t bothersome. We were very close to the restrooms as there are two in each loop. Restrooms have running water and a station for washing dishes but the restrooms were not cleaned daily so they could get a little messy. If you are a tent camper, showers inside the park are quite a drive from Madison - either Mammoth or Old Faithful. Camp showers are not allowed in the park. You can drive to West Yellowstone for pay showers in town.

Beautiful but bring the bug spray

We were in site 36. Great campground but very close to a pond. We stayed in early July 2020 and while the weather was terrific, the mosquitoes were almost unbearable. Overall, the campground was very clean and due to Covid, the pit toilets were cleaned multiple times. There is plenty of shade and the site was fairly level so setting up our tent was a breeze. The campground is within walking distance of Turquoise lake. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but will likely choose a site away from any ponds going forward.
