Comfortable in S. AZ

First come first serve sites with a variety of pull-through or back-in sites. Pit toilets that were kept clean and supplied(TP) by camp host. Only downside was that the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty. Horse shoes available. 0.5 miles to the lake with access included in cost of campsite($20/night). Easy reach for Sierra Vista, Bisbee and Coronado National Monument

Great spot in the Arizona “winter”

Group campground that is reasonably priced and can accommodate big groups. Has pit toilets and potable water access, ramadas, grills and campfire location. Good for campers and tent camping

Dispersed camping with good space and close to Knoll Lake

Great location within about 1-2 miles from Knoll Lake. Large flat area allows for a couple of camping groups. Only downside is the close proximity to the road which was fairly heavily trafficked due to the Labor Day weekend.

Fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding available at Knoll Lake with pit toilets

Great bail out late at night

Plan were for higher up the mountain but too dark. This was perfect went around the loop 3 times and found a spot for our off-road trailer. Great table and benches - they were even totally level. Bathroom were clean, not malodorous, cleaned o. The day we left by USFS staff leaving them smelling even cleaner. All sites are under tree. A deer came through. Good jump off point to go to Riggs Flat lake, use the kayak. Next time we’ll bring fishing rods

Dispersed, Primitive and beautiful

Long drive over some rough gravel road, but what a view at the end. Big enough site for shorter off-road trailer. No toilets. Pack-in, pack-out.

Trailhead at the end of the road. Great for tent camping, car camping, campervans, short trailer.

30 degree difference in temperatures hi-lo.

Wonderful sunset.

Great for tents and campervans

Much bigger climb than expected, so if towing a heavier trailer be aware. Gravel road is well maintained with minimal washboard.

Looks like there was a flood in the past - destroyed site #1. Remaining 11 sites are nicely shaded among the trees. Limited space for small trailers/campers. Good for campervans or tent campers.

Water supply is turned off at all water sites - unsure whether this is related to flood damage or something else.

11 sites with nice fireplaces, fire rings and picnic tables/benches.

First to Review
Bare bones but sufficient

Stopped here on the run home from Canada. 5-6 loops that would allow a single camper or groups. Can fit a big rig if necessary. Pit toilet

Wonderful access to the park and the coast

Well located on the west side of the park that presents good access to the rain forest and the coast line, beaches and rock pools. It does take time, though, to get to Hurricane ridge and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Level sites among the trees

Great location close to the Sunrise entrance. Had all we needed although the restroom service was sorely wanting some maintenance. Water fill was possible, no dump

Quiet and peaceful

This is a clearly dispersed location. There is a single pit toilet. Camped right next to the lake. Lots of bugs being close to water but seemingly few mosquitoes

Great location with lake

Stopped here short of intended destination due to lateness of the hour and long drive. Great sites along the lake with tables and fire rings and fireplaces. Able to set up in one of the RV sites next to the water. Bike trails available, boating allowed but no swimming. Visitor center is nearby. Reasonable temps. Proximity of water does mean bugs of all kinds(gnats, nozzles, dragonflies etc.) 8 person occupancy. Only downside is proximity to the highway but not as heavily trafficked as it could be.

Great sites but dusty

Nice sites for individual or group camping. Well maintained and cleaned bathrooms. Well-groomed sites with fire rings and picnic table. Easy access to surrounding areas. Only problem is the proximity to the road with a lot of ATV/UTV and general traffic who seldom follow the speed restrictions. This leads to a lot of dust and the potential for it being blown across your site. Many of these riders stop to use the vault toilets on the site but typically not much of an issue

Room for improvement

Context: one night and heavy rainstorm immediately before arrival so this should be considered when reading my comments.

Positives: hot shower, bathrooms cleaned early and quite nice. Well-groomed sites with table, shade cloth, water +/- electricity. Camp host(when I located them) was very friendly.

Negatives: no indication who the host is. No responses to text messages sent to the contact number on their website. Was never given the WiFi password so of no value to us. I’ve heard it’s quick…

Suggestion to a better job communicating with upcoming guests - most AirBnB hosts we have dealt with are a good example of how to do it.

They say it doesn't usually blow this hard.....but the muffins were good.

This was stop to be able to visit Manzanar Internment camp.

Tent sites are gravel and mostly level. They all have water, a table and fire ring. Trees are still young. Very close to Owens lake(within view).

We had a lot of wind that came blowing up the valley from the south. There is very little protection for the tent campsites. Almost killed the tent.

Hosts were very helpful in getting us situated despite the need to switch sites(too many people).

Free muffins and coffee in the morning! Nice pool and hot tub, as well as bathrooms and laundry facilities.

Easy access into  town for dinner or groceries.

Lush and beautiful

We stayed here on the way down from the Oregon coast. Great camp site although wet from all the early June rain. Some other sites are elevated above the access loop so would aim for those.

Make sure you get up early or late as they seem to service the restrooms between 7:30 and 8a.

Great camp host with wood available for fires. Bear boxes at every site. Easy access to get to Prairie Creek and Elk Prairie campground for a scenic walk on the beach or access for Fern Canyon.

Close access to Crescent City for groceries and laundry if needed.

Beautiful and sad at the same time

Great camp site with close access to ample bathrooms. Shower are only located at the main office. Cold in June still. Still recovering from the Dixie fire but some hikes available. Later in the summer may be better due to more trails being open

Lovely wooded sites

Arrived after office closure and paperwork was waiting for us on the board. Good restroom conditions, sink for cleaning dishes after cooking and eating.

Wet and rainy but good people

Unfortunately due to equipment failure we got rained out of our family tent. However, the staff at the KOA were outstandingly friendly and understanding helping us through the struggle. Would love to visit again with better weather conditions

Well appointed but noisy

The site is located really close to a major road near the highway and thus a lot of noise if tent camping. I would imagine that RVs would be less bothered. Showers and bathrooms were OK, and staff seemed receptive to feedback about them. Nice pool, deck chairs and slide for the kids. Store is well-stocked. Nice little discount at the restaurant across the parking lot for KOA residents.

Great spot for access to ROMO

Decent sized campsites. Cleanest pit toilets we had come across. Camp host/manager frequently circulating to make sure bathrooms were clean. Only improvement would be another water access point on Loop. Watch out for the mosquitoes in the summer with it being fairly close to the lake and a lot of brush and trees nearby.
