Crowded/Not Dispersed

I will start off by saying the trail up was unique with a lot to do, the ghost town is cool with mini waterfalls if you will. The views looking over the mountains were amazing. BUT please have a 4w drive vehicle to drive up, and this is NOT dispersed camping. Very crowded even while rainy. Alta lakes themselves were not as impressive as I hoped for but there are better lakes near it if you talk to the people who live in Telluride. Still a cool spot to go hang out but if you like to camp without neighbors around then don’t pick here.

Had a blast dispersed camping! Quiet and spaced out plenty of fire rings along the road. Road leads to the Browns creek falls trailhead. At the trailhead there are vault toilets if you’re too good to dig a hole. Awesome hike and amazing time camping.

Amazing campsite!

Just absolutely incredible! Plenty of free dispersed camping with very little “ neighbors”. We went on the 4th of July and it still wasn’t busy. Eventually made our way to the reservoir at the end of the rd and it was breathtaking! Had our dogs with us the whole time, I highly recommend this campsite. River running through the whole rd but no bathrooms or any amenities just raw nature. Easy to find as the rd is right off of HWY 24.
