What a gorgeous state park! From the moment you enter, you are in awe of the landscape. Trees tower above you as you drive through the park. For this particular trip, we reserved group sites A and B. They each have concrete pads for 3 campers and TONS of space to spread out and/or set up tents. Non-flush toilets in between the two sites on opposite side of the campsites. Each have electric for each pad, and there is water that can be pumped on each group site. We didn’t have group site C, but that one only had a pad for 1 camper and was a smaller area. Group sites are close to the beach and boat launch. Water was refreshing and there is a small beach area. Beautiful hiking trails, but watch out for the biting deer flies as the sun goes down! Three kids got attacked in one of the trails and had huge welts and lots of tears. May have been an isolated incident, as everyone else was ok. Overall, I would highly recommend this state park and group sites!
I don’t know how we got a last minute reservation to this campground, but I’m glad we did. Nice size site: 118. Lots of room to spread out. Grassy area for the kids to play. Large dune-like area behind us that gave us something to look at, but helped maintain privacy. The lake was a short bike ride from our site, and we enjoyed walking the beach and attached trails. The pond was overgrown with weeds, which made for a short fishing trip with our son, but lots of frogs and turtles to be found. Our site had electric only, which suited our needs. Overall, a great campground close to home, and we will be back!
What a great place to go camping! Sites are private with lots of trees, so there is plenty of shade. We were on site 317 and it was very level which made setting up our travel trailer a piece of cake. Water spigot was right next to our site, and bathrooms with flush toilets were just a short walk away. The lake can be accessed by driving or walking via trails connected to the campground. Water was warm and clean, and just perfect for the 90+ degree days we were there. We could hear the road from our campsite, but it was pretty quiet most of the time. I was really surprised to see that the roads through the campground were not 1-way only. We thought maybe someone just didn’t know the first time we saw someone driving the wrong way, but throughout the weekend there were are least 6 other vehicles that drove the “wrong way.” That would be the only negative of our time there .
