The site we stayed in was lovely. It was backed up to the edge of the woods which made for a lovely view. Driving through the campground it looks like there are some sites pretty close together but ours wasn’t too bad. I would say pay particular attention to the size of the site you’re booking as some were pretty small. Also, some sites were fairly sloped as well. This site was a slight slope and overall I would book it again. We have a full size truck with a small travel trailer that fit perfectly. Camp store was stocked nicely. Staff was friendly. The campground itself was very quiet and you could enjoy being out in nature. The site was walking distance from showers/bathroom. The park as a whole is beautiful and there’s a trailhead that’s walking distance from the campsite that leads down a beautiful trail to a lake.
We enjoyed the stay at site 77. The description of the site did say it had a slight slope so were aware. We tent camped which means our tent was on a slope. Next time we’ll pick a more level site. Bathrooms were clean, just your run of the mill park bathroom with some spider webs. We hiked a pretty easy trail and loved the walk. We saw several sites that we’d love to try when we return. So we’d definitely go back.
We saw several wild horses during our stay, mostly near the roads, so we didn’t have issues with them at our campsite. We had an amazing unobstructed sunrise view directly from inside the tent. The sites weren’t too close together but you could see and hear other campers somewhat. Sand is quite comfy to sleep on. There was a boardwalk from the parking area to the sand and then we had a short incline to get to our site. Nice fire pit with grate and a picnic table at each site. The picnic tables had doors at each end and were encased underneath in order to provide a safe place for your food items. Check in and out was easy. We went when it was still quite chilly at night and there were no bugs to deal with yet.
