This is still a cool spot. Great beach access, fishing, crabbing, boat launch, etc. but it used to be so much better. The sites are super close together and the layout could be better.
For anyone visiting Pinnacles, this is a great place to stay nearby. We were there on a weekend and all the spots were taken so we walked in with our tents and set up off the hiking road. The views were great and there are lots of things to explore!
This campground was super convenient when staying at Pinnacles for a couple days. You can’t really get anything same day so be sure to book in advance! We stayed outside of the park the first night and here the next. Amazing to see condors from our site. Great hiking close by!
So…if you camp here you may be surprised to see 40 fters out in the middle of nowhere. Just be careful of the sand. We got stuck with our camper and had to call AAA, luckily they got us out just fine:) but save yourself the trouble and watch out for soft sand…other than that, the location is right outside of Joshua Tree and makes it super easy to get to the park! Great spot, lots of space and good for large groups!
Super fun area! Just off the highway and easy to get to. The volcano in the distance is beautiful and fossil falls is so unique…lots of room to explore the lava flows. The campground has fire pits and a picnic bench. The bathrooms are pretty decent for pit toilets. Good place to stop!
This is such a beautiful area. Take some extra water and spend some time exploring this place. The rocks give me Joshua Tree vibes, and the views of Whitney are incredible. Have fun!
Super cool spot. We set up our tents with a view of the hot springs. The hot spring was kind of broken when we were there so that was a bummer, but you could hike out to the slightly muddy creek for some hot water. Beautiful area, and hopefully the other guys staying there fixed the hot spring by now, they were working on it:)
