Nice facilities but very little privacy and shade. Very large playground and pool over the hill from campground as well as many smaller playgrounds throughout the park. HC Trail takes you through town and through a cool tunnel.

Nice Park

The park was nice and well marked. Had a beach and an observation tower that would be worth a visit. Trail was a bit boring without much shade and anywhere near standing water had a bad odor. Perhaps summer season had something to do with it, would visit again.

Fab HC Trail in July!

Park is on the smaller side compared to other state parks but was great with a very nice beach. Scenic prairie trail with tons of wild life to watch like butterflies, frogs, chipmunks, grasshoppers, and caterpillars. Wild Raspberries grow along the trail as well.

Clean and Quiet

Our campsite was very spacious and I was impressed with how tidy the entire park was! The trail was nice and shady with nice interpretive signage. Bathrooms were very clean! They have a beach and lots of rentals to take out on the lake. Quiet hours were well abided by.

Pond FULL of Wildlife

This campground is FCFS, with a money drop box at the beginning of the camppad loop. There were only 2 spots left when we arrived and wound up with the spot right next to the airport fence. There were terrible bugs while we were there but we spent hours on the dock watching the fish, turtles, and muskrat? swimming around right near the dock. There is also a small playground and a paved trail that takes you into town. Bathroom was clean but not very private with only thin curtains rather than doors on the stalls.

Family Friendly

There is lots to keep the kids busy here! A 5k paves trail that goes around the lake connecting the campground to the park on the other side of the lake, bike rentals (using an app on your phone), the lake to fish/kayak/boat, a beach on the opposite side of the lake, playgrounds (small one in campground, medium on next to lake, and large one on other side of lake if you follow the paved trail), and even a little Library! Shower and bathroom facility is new. Also a frisbee golf course around Sportsman park and campground.

Goegeous Waterfall

I stayed in the newest loop. This is a great campground. The site felt very private. Vault toilets were closed, so it was a long walk to the bathroom/shower facility. Hiking was not little kid friendly, at least the trail to the waterfall, however there were kid friendly events going on while we were there.
