Worth it

Just kept following the roads through the woods until I found a campsite along a ridge. Very beautiful views and clean camping areas. 2wd acceptable to get up there through the woods. Lots of space to camp, although I'm not sure how many "designated" campsites there are.

Use the NW entrance! 2wd acceptable

Free! Easy enough to find if you use the coordinates given by the Dyrt. I only saw maybe 6 official spaces to camp, but there's probably more that I just couldn't access with 2wd. I took the Northwest entrance initially and had no problem getting to the campsite. Just a few bumps. Using the other entrance, I found too many bumps for my minivan to get over.

Great campsite

$22 a night with many campsites. We got there around 3 pm and there were a few campsites left with varying layouts and proximity to the amenities. We had no problems and didn't need 4x4 to get there.

4x4 required

With a 2wd minivan, we weren't able to make it down to the sites that I guess are along the river, so we camped out on the asphalt immediately across from the entrance road to the campsite.

A great first dispersed camping experience

Free! And you've gotta love free camping. We weren't able to find any amenities when we got in around 21:30 and set up in the dark. We saw the picnic tables some have talked about on our way out this morning. Went to (39.2902069, -102.9839294) and found a small loop with space to pull off and set up tents.
