Great spot

We arrived on a Monday morning hoping to get a first come first serve spot and we’re lucky enough to get one. But online said they had more available then they did so just be sure to check.

We had an electric spot, all that was left, but it was great. Spots were spread out and big. All pretty close to water access. Some spots were right on the water too. Super quiet area and everyone seems respectful of noise. Lots of dogs but leashed.

Nice walking area around the lake. And day area was empty.

Kettle Creek Campground

We stayed at the Kettle Creek Campground in the Northern Plains area of Pueblo Lake 8/27-8/29 2021.  We found that this campground is all about knowing the spots.  You can walk down to the water from many campsites but some you have to find your own path.  We were in a very crowded swimming/boating area and ended up walking a bit to find a more secluded spot to hang out and get in the water.

The spots are well spaced and felt private enough.  Bathrooms were a little far but not terrible.  Bring your own form of shade as the shade provided is not great until the afternoon (depending on your spot)

Juniper Breaks was Great!

This campground was great! Easy to get to with gas stations and shops about 15 min away so you can pick stuff up if needed. The spots are well spaced so you don’t feel on top of your neighbors. Bathrooms are not far from any spot. Tons of trails to the water lots of places to explore.

Our one complaint was that our back in spot put the door to our trailer on the opposite side of our fire and picnic table so we had to awkwardly walk around every time we went inside. If we had planned more ahead we would have chosen a spot that was not like that but it’s worth checking before.

Good but tricky

I went here the week before campgrounds opened in this area, around May 7th. I had a pop up trailer and got there around 5pm on a Friday. Most spots were already taken and the road was a bit washed out. We got stopped by a camper letting us know not to go further because of the road condition and we shared a spot for the night. I would recommend this spot if you have a 4 wheel drive car with high clearance. Later in the season when the water levels are lower it might be easier to navigate but we saw a car or two get towed out
