Good launch point for boats or kayaks

Not really a campsite, more of a launch point for watercraft. You can camp overnight, but it’s a small area and pretty moderately trafficked. Parking here requires a tonto pass which you can buy at most of the local stores, I got mine at ACE hardware.

Good for a night or two of camping

We drove all the way to the third and last parking lot and didn’t find any previously established campgrounds so we ended up just setting up next to the river. It’s a beautiful area but people haven’t been cleaning up after themselves and there’s a lot of beer cans and fishing line scattered around. There’s a lot to explore and it wasn’t crowded at all. We usually bring a water filter if we are camping by a river or stream, but this is the upper salt river and even when you filter it the water tastes extremely salty so we brought water with us.
