Arrived for a first come first serve after gate was closed past Animas Overlook (early May). Forested sites, extremely clean amenities, camp hosts were very helpful and friendly , and quiet. Very spotty Verizon service. Down the road from Log Chutes and CO trail mtb. Can ride from camp spot. $26 a night.
Visited in December and arrived on a weekday. About 1/3 of spots were full. Spot 6 was stunning and provided privacy. Spot had enough Verizon service to work/hotspot. Road is great in a 2wd camper van. About 15-20 minutes from St. George. Spot 6 was ~3/4 mile from a trail, but the road was great to walk too. I will definitely be back.
Plenty of pull offs and spots. Views were great and a quiet spot! Verizon and Google Fi signal… Enough to hotspot and work from most areas. Will definitely be back! As another review mentioned - the higher you go the better the viewa.
Stayed here on the way out west. Less than 10 minutes off the hwy. Views of the salt flats. Verizon and Google Fi service. Plenty of spots and you won't even be close to your neighbors! 2wd for the areas we drove on though the road in is gravel washboard.
Very reasonably priced - $20 a night for tent spot. Access to state pale from camping area. Found a first come first served spot on Thursday in November. Some Verizon signal. Showers are free. You can hear some hwy 101 traffic but it does down at night.
Stayed here two nights in our 2wd camper van on the way into the Vegas area. Easy to find a spot - just look for pull off roads from the paved road. Great views and not busy! Got enough Verizon and Google Fi service to hotspot and work (spotty in some areas but we're able to find places).
