Desoto State Park is great for hiking and camping. Mentone is a nice town to visit. Check out Orbix Hot Glass and have dinner at The Wildflower Cafe. About an hour away in Scottsboro is a great place called Unclaimed Baggage. Chattanooga isn’t far and has lots to offer.

+1 for Desoto! Cathederal Caverns is not far from Scottsboro and is a much nicer cave than the ones near Chattanooga (Ruby Falls and Sequiah caverns). If you’re a bit more adventurous contact the National Speleological Society and see if you can get someone from one of the local grottoes to guide you into the non-commercial caves.
