Hello! Me and a few friends were thinking about going to the Great Sand Dunes. Any good places to camp, BLM land wise? Usually it’s impossible to get reservations at campsites that are accessible w/o 4WD…but seeing as Medano Creek is already dried up this year maybe you know of somewhere that is taking reservations? Any tips on getting there or places to rent sand boards from?
Zapata Falls campground is just south of the NP. It’s a BLM and only $11/night. The road is rough but doable in a car. There are some free BLM spots further south. Check out campendium.com for more.
