We have a dehydrator, and love it for certain applications, but think it might be beneficial (I’m also a gardener and it would be useful) to buy a Freeze Dryer.
Any recommendations? Don’t want to break the bank. Thanks for the suggestions!
My awesome boss (also a backpacker) has a Harvest Right freeze dryer that he and his wife have graciously allowed us to use. It was about $2500 for the 4-tray version. It takes 24-36 hours to completely freeze dry a full load, and with the electricity use they only run full loads. We have friends that have had the same unit for years and they swear by it. We’re saving up for our own Harvest Right.
