Overview

Trail Creek Campground is located along Trail Creek on scenic Teton Pass, just 7 miles from Victor, Idaho at an elevation of 6,600 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing, exploring local trails and sightseeing in this beautiful region.

Recreation

Trail Creek offers fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat and brook trout. Hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are popular activities on the nearby Mikesell Canyon Trail, which begins 2 miles away at Mike Harris Campground.

Natural Features

The campground is situated on the banks of Trail Creek in an open grassy meadow lined with Douglas fir, spruce and aspen trees. A variety of wildlife makes its home in the area, including moose and deer. Summer wildflowers are abundant.

Nearby Attractions

Popular activities in the area include the Teton Valley Summer Festival over the Fourth of July in Driggs, with a hot air balloon festival, parade, rodeo, bike races and craft booths. Grand Targhee Resort is nearby with outstanding annual music festivals: Targhee Fest is in mid-July; Targhee Bluegrass Festival is in mid-August. The resort also offers lift-served hiking and mountain biking, scenic lift rides, guided horseback riding, a climbing wall and an 18-hole disc golf course. Grand Teton National Park's Granite Entrance is 20 miles away; Jackson, Wyoming is 17 miles away. Yellowstone National Park is within a couple hours drive.

Beautiful but noisy traffic

The camp host is awesome and keeps the vault toilets and camp super clean. The camp itself is lovely. The traffic noise right on the road is very loud. Great for early risers.

$17 per site still a great deal!

This was our basecamp for Grand Teton National Park. We lucked into a site that someone had cancelled their reservation. I guess reservations are all online these days, but we met the awesome camp host, Don, who helped us get our site (#10) right on the creek! There are 10 sites & a "meadow" with a vault toilet, water pumps, fire ring & grill, bear box & a dumpster. It is right off the road, so you can hear road noise, but not bad. Lots of pine trees make the sites feel private.

Really Great For The Price

We pulled up and luckily got a spot last-minute in “The Meadow” haha. For the price ($12) you really can’t complain about anything. I personally liked being next to the highway to discourage wildlife coming near our campsite. Would recommend!!!

Good

Good place. Theres not any dead fall so bring food or a stove. Fire pits are there and the river is very nice. I get 3 bars with T-mobile.

Car camping $12

Sites are first come, first serve right off of the Teton Bypass. Sites are spacious and have restrooms, picnic tables and firepits for comfortable use. Only reason for low rating is it's very close to the road so you will hear cars rushing past vs. the sounds of nature and the lights from the road make it hard to see the stars. But it's cheaper than a hotel for last minute plans to run off to nature!

Best Campground Host

We loved meeting Glenda the host. We traded beers and traveling advice. The campground is right off the mountain road but the sites are tucked back and private. We stayed in one of the back sites by the river. There was even a little open field space at the back of the campground that we were able to play fetch in with our dog. The bathroom was a vault toilet and well maintained. Only a few spots but we showed up late afternoon and there were a few available. Close to Jackson and a good place to stay for a very reasonable price. Just load up on that mosquito repellent.
