Awesome pond! New for 2023

The swimming pond opened in 2023! Very nice with sandy beach! Jumping pillow, catch and release pond(needs landscaping work) Playground. You will not get any tv reception, there is no WIFi. The game room and laundry is upstairs in the barn. They should not have laundry facilities"upstairs" Maybe this will change with new owners/improvements. They need to add a playground near the pond as well. It's quite a distance from some sites. Black top roads would also be nice for children riding bikes and people like me using a walker to get around. We camped at Skillet Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Disappointed

We camped here because the reviews were good. We didn’t lock our site. We chose a seasonal site so we were moved. I feel they could have let us know it was seasonal and given us the option of a different site but they chose it for us. We would not have chosen this site. The hook ups are on the wrong side so we had to back in sideways to make it work. With the camper sideways the back is only a foot from the pop out bed on the camper behind us and the camper next to us is close with a storage shed and a large electric box between the shed and our camper. We had to park our truck almost into another site to get off the street. Will not recommend or come back. Very disappointed!!

Not for the primitive camper

If you’re looking for a casual family friendly campground with lots of amenities and activities for kids, this place is for you. Unfortunately, as a tent camper, secluded primitive sites won’t be found here. You’ll be hearing the rustling of other campers, screams from playing children, and loud music playing up to 10pm.

I imagine it would be fun as a family camping trip, but as a couple looking to getaway from the busy life, solitude was not found here.

As far as the primitive sites go, the sites are too close together and hardly anything covering between so you can see/hear everything your tent camping neighbors are doing.

The ground was unkept on our site, making tent placement difficult and unable to lay the tent flat.

This reservation was a last minute decision since devils lake campground was completely booked. It did the job. A bit pricey for the experience though.

A great place for relaxation and vacationing.

I cannot wait to stay here again! This was such an incredible experience, and the campground is really close to everything. The staff was super accommodating and friendly, and the site is really beautiful. We decided we'll be returning every year, especially since it's a very quick drive to Devil's Lake, and the area it's in (Baraboo) is really adorable with plenty of things to do when you're not camping and at the State Park. I would highly recommend!

Highly recommend

Campground was clean and owners were very friendly. Great location! Only 6 minutes from Devil's Lake. Also has a great brewery and winery down the road.

Peaceful and scenic

Campground has very friendly owners. Big barn to hangout in with games and movie screen. Gaga ball pit, cross net, fishing pod, hiking,and clean bathrooms. Right next to Devils Lake and close to Baraboo events

Peaceful, surrounded by nature, hiking, fishing, nearby climbing

This campground is nestled in 70 acres surrounded by the Baraboo, Wisconsin hills, Skillet Creek Campground offers a serene setting. Located one mile from Devil’s Lake State Park, this campground is your best base camp this summer! Enjoy the Baraboo area attractions, circus world, Baraboo Zoo, Devil's lake climbing, swimming, hiking, and fishing.

Skillet Creek Campground has friendly owners, themed weekends, glow parades, Saturday activities for kids, and movies nights.

Clean bathrooms and a barn with large game room.

Easy and close to park

Wheelers is a great, well established campground close to Devils Lake State Park. The camping comes with flushable toilets and warm showers.

Only negative is that the bugs can get unseasonably bad there due to some of the low lying areas with water... certainly not their fault.

Family Friendly Campground

We wanted to see Devil's Lake State Park however were unable to get a campsite at the park. Called Wheeler's and they had availability. The campground was well maintained and a few minutes from Devil's Lake. Bathrooms were very clean and showers were free. Nice playground for the kids and a small fishing pond. Owners were very friendly and accommodating to our family. Large sites with fire pit and picnic table.

Loud campers beware!

My family leaves their camper here year round. They've been doing that for years. Management is very vigilant, and very strict with the rules. They've been known to kick out loud groups no shame.

There's a large field on the temporary renter side, where we've previously set up a volleyball net. As long as things are kept under control, all is well.

This is a very quiet and upkept campground. The campground is split between a traditional campground, and an area where we stay and keep our rig there year round. The bridge just past the gate though can be a little unnerving to drive over, as it is a very narrow concrete slab over a creek (no railings).

This campground is ideal for any type of camper. Big rig and tent friendly, though I'm not sure what the maximum footage allowed is by management.

Would recommend to the type looking for a low key, friendly environment.

Stayed a while

We stayed at this campground a while, a good 2 weeks in fact. My family rents a permanent spot on site and we were there visiting. The staff is super good with security. We were an out of state vehicle and they were there as soon as they saw us in the site without our family that rents the space. It's kept very clean, there is a fishing pond that allows fishing without a license. Catch and release only. There are bass and pan fish as well as snapping turtles. It is well shaded in many places and some of the tent sites are amazing. They had a nice playground for the kids to play at. There was a large grassy field where the kids played ball. Bathrooms are very clean. Hot showers are free, although they only have an on and off, no temperature control. They have a small store and firewood on site. They also have a game room, although we did not explore it. On site dumpsters and recycling. They spray for weeds several times a week and mow regularly. It's just a couple miles from Devil's Lake State Park and a few more miles from Baraboo, where you can find shopping and conveniences.
