Very Nice Small State Park

There may not be a lot of trails, but they are very nice. The sites are oddly level, even though they do not look like they would be.

Site 01 is a great spot, that feels about the most secluded.

Watch out for all the spider webs on the trails, if you hike early in the morning... We camped at Meridian State Park in a 28 foot Travel Trailer.

Great little park!

Clean park but lake currently has an algae bloom. Older small camp sites with a few drive thrus. Really friendly people and stores about 5 mi away. Nice time but better for tent campers. No wifi.

Nice but kinda small!

Nice place. Well kept. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed to be here. Kelly at office was great! The sites are a bit tight for a big rig and not much space as other sate parks but worked well for an overnight stay.

More attention to sanitation, park it self is nice

First the bad. The restrooms/shower's are not on the priority list, not cleaned regularly and to think we're dealing with COVID. Privacy curtains at the showers were missing. The soap holder in the shower was dirty on Tuesday 7/26/'21when we arrived and was still dirty when we left that Friday 7/30/'21, so was the left behind shampoo bottle. We had to clean our camping area from dog poop left behind and there were flies al over the area. The only place you could find dog baggies was at the office/Headquarters, even there in front of the Headquarters, we picked up dog poop left behind, laying there for a couple of days, so we could sit on the bench and use the Wifi. We were shocked to find this at a Texas State Park. The good. The park is great👍, nice walking and biking trails and the and the lake was beautiful, fishing🐠, kayaking🚣 and swimming🏊‍♀️. If you love nature this is a nice to visit.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars for the Park itself. Awesome campsite

This is a great campsite!! You only have one neighbor but they are across a small parking lot. You have access to a fishing dock and an entrance to Bosque Trail. The only negatives are the bathrooms are a 5 min drive away and the campsite ground was very rocky so make sure you have a good air mattress.

Meridian State Park

Wish they would change the name to Meridian State Park instead of just Meridian on here. Very nice, small, peaceful park. There are 8 pull thru sites with full hookups, including 50 amp. We were in on site 6. Fairly level, but not much room to put a rug out. They had 5 big rocks out to keep people from parking to close to the site. Very close to the bathroom and shower room. Very clean. Right next to Park Office. Lake was only 5 minute walk or minute drive. Excellent swimming area with picnic tables and grills. Did not get a chance to fish there but heard it is very good. Very quiet park.

Beautiful campsites, beautiful trails

This state park was amazing to camp at! Nice and quiet, cleanly kept up, wildlife was present, but not pesky! The trails were perfect and fun. Views were amazing. Will definitely be back.

Small but worth it

This park is on the smaller side, but makes for great camping.

Pros: Friendly staff and easy check-in. The campsites were clean as were the restrooms. You can rent kayaks and canoes. Not too busy or crowded. It has some nice views. They sell firewood at all hours. Water and electric at campsites. The lake is small, but swimming area is clean and accessible.

Cons: Road noise from the small highway. There’s not very many hiking trails. No cell service (might be a pro for some).

The Bee Ledge was kind of cool. People indigenous to the area used to use it as a shelter and has some cave like features.

Gorgeous lake!

We were at Meridian for two weeks. We enjoyed our time at Lake Meridian State Park!

Pros: -quiet and peaceful -beautiful & clean swimming lake -paddleboarding -pull thru sites -multiple trails -we were in site 1and loved it because it was like you had a little backyard -full rv hookups Cons: -a lot of rv sites in full sun -sticker burs throughout grass

Small BEAUTIFUL park

Hidden gem of a state park! The lake is a 72 acre one and it is a no wake lake. Wonderful fishing dock, great facilities, excellent place for kids! We stay at the screened shelters that are RIGHT by the water! Awesome hiking trails!

Swimming and fishing!

This is a great park for family fun, and would be awesome for family reunions or youth groups! They have literally everything you can think of for summer fun! Fishing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, bird watching! We stayed on the East side so we would be close to bathrooms and drinking water. Be aware if you stay on the West side the bathrooms and water are about a mile away. There are also RV sites, cabins, screened shelters and group sites. All sites have lake access nearby.

So the park is basically a huge lake with pretty clean water for a lake. There are a wide variety of hiking trails surrounding the lake.Each trail is very much its own with different scenery, rock formations, and trees. I think the longest trail is about 2 miles, so nothing to extreme. Perfect for families and kids. It is also very dog friendly which I love!!!

This park is also only 45 miles from Glen Rose! It would be a great place to stay at and take a day to go to Dinosaur Valley State Park. Meridian is a small town but it does have all the amenities you may need about 5 miles down the road. There is a grocery store, a gas station, and some restaurants if you want a warm home style meal.

The facilities are old but well maintained, and thankfully there are showers which will be needed after swimming. Don't let the size of this park get you down, it has so much to offer for a getaway from city life. IT is the perfect place to relax, take a dip, and read a good book!

All time favorite in the Texas State Parks!

Meridian SP is such a hidden gem. If you’re not a fan of the Texas heat they just added one limited use cabin in addition to RV, tent and screened shelter sites. The BEST place to stay is the shelters on the lake hands down! There is also a CCC building at this park that serves as a gathering area on the lakeshore. It has several well maintained trails and the lake is good for fishing. Wildflower season here is CRAZY!

Awesome until it rained

This campground is nice and clean. The lake is small but has fish in it. Our tent site was kind of close to the road and there was a weird dude driving a suburban around all day and night. Plenty of trees to hammock camp. I would stop here again. They sell wood on site(pay with CC)

Small, clean, quite.

My Family and I took an RV trip here the end of march. Lake is beautiful and well maintained walking trails. Also, caves are a must see!

beautiful lake views

We camped at site 31 which is a primitive tent only site. The sites are HUGE!!! tons of space between you and the next site. Sites are level and easy to find a spot to pitch your tent.

Set up a camp chair, bust out your fishing gear and kick back and relax while watching the amazing sunset over Lake Meridian.

Peaceful, secluded, dark sky

This is a great campground! It is smaller than a lot of the other parks we stay at, it still had enough to explore to keep us interested. Great hiking with lots of hidden gems. Wonderful wildlife sightings (tracks, scat, and visual sightings). The best part: no noise or light pollution. We have visited multiple times & seasons. Make this your home base and take a few quick drives to nearby parks and explore by day.

Meridian SP

Had a great stay at the park. Would have liked to stay in the primitive sites with water, but had a lot of highway noise. Also, heard some critters rustling around at night, armadillos probably.

We arrived after the park store had closed, but checked in when they opened at 8:15am. Fun Hill Country-ish park with lots of interesting topography. Looks like there is a plethora of trails to explore.

Great, small lake

My wife, dog, and I headed here for an impromptu overnight. We did not know what to expect, though. We were tent camping, and the campground is pretty small and quite. We loved the place. We got one of the Shinnery Ridge West "primitive" sites which means no water faucet nearby, but it was right on the lake and had a nice picnic table and grill. We had plenty of room and the site could have held two tents.

We hiked two trails: the Shinnery Ridge trail made about a 2 mile loop from our campsite. The first quarter mile or so was paved like a sidewalk to be ADA accessible. It then went up a ridgeline and looped back down. There weren't any great views, but there were lots of rabbits.

The Bosque hiking trail looped the entire lake in about 2.5 miles. You get to see areas of the lake filled with lilly pads and walk across the dam. On the far side of the lake from our site was the swimming area & boat ramp, and we were able to get more water to drink as we went by.

The swimming area was pretty good. It isn't sandy, but the lake isn't very rocky and it gently slopes down to allow you to wade out and splash and play. You can rent kayaks and SUPs by the hour here. The lake seemed sheltered enough to make these great options, but we did not take advantage on this trip.

Bee creek

It had recently rained, so the creek was flowing great. It was a little chilly, but otherwise would have been nice to wade in. The bee ledge area was fantastic and reminded me of hiking in some other states. Love when a park has a trail that goes all the way around a lake. The campground is high up so no worries about flooding. Spotty wifi from the headquarters.

Our big group rented all the regular screened shelters and had a blast. The hiking is decent here, and you can rent fishing rods if you didn't bring your own. Great, small place outside of DFW.

Lovely little park

Stayed in a screened shelter right in the lake because it was supposed to rain. The trails were nice and there were some good views. Some are definitely appropriate for beginners like me. We definitely will go back for tent camping. Note that the "lake" is very small - no motor boats. Folks were enjoying bank fishing and kayaking. The Rangers seemed omni-present. We enjoyed our stay.

I enjoyed hiking and fishing here. The lake is a pretty decent size. The pup and I were able to hike all the trails in a few hours. Next time I will try and stay at one of the campsites and bring my kayak.
