Experience the adventures of a nature get-a-way without venturing far from the metroplex. On the west shore of Joe Pool Lake, Loyd Park covers about 791 acres of native Texas landscape. Loyd Park is in a peaceful tree-filled setting right on the lake but is centrally located - camping is conveniently close to major DFW attractions. Individual campsites are large (avg 1000 sq ft.), and each one has a picnic table and pavilion, grill, fire ring, and more Texas tranquility than you can handle!

From South Texas: Take I-35 north to Hillsboro then merge onto I-35W. Near Alverado Exit 26A and turn Right on E-Hwy67 / US 67. Take the Ramp onto US 287 going NW for 6 miles. Turn right at S TX-360 going N for 6 miles. Turn right at Ragland Rd. Loyd Park is on the right.

Review about Loyd Park Camping

Loyd Park is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy the natural beauty of Texas. I highly recommend a visit to Loyd Park for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing camping experience. You should go there territorial io. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is unbeatable.

Overall the lake and wooded areas are good for a day’s enjoyment however the facility is not maintained. The bath houses are completely neglected. The light in the ladies BH is flickering so badly it was disorientIng, one shower did not work at all, toilets have no “seat”, and it is overrun with bugs (more than the normal campground). The gate entrance attendant is rude and unhelpful. No sewer hook ups at site so “community” dumping is necessary. The community dump is run down too with broken equipment and bent connections. Finally, for the camp charges $10/car/day. We have a drivable RV and rented a car so not only did we pay for the site but then paid more to have our car. Not going to stay here again.

Loop A vs E

Also the entire park is huge so things are not within walking distance so if you don’t have wheels you’ll have to unhook for hike a good long distance to amenities. The bath houses in Loop E are completely neglected. Loyd Park

Have visited several times, we purchased park pass as they charge daily fee of $10 per vehicle. Joe Pool lake is part of park. It’s a big park, lots of good spaces. We stayed at site 190. It’s at end of road with privacy. Our only complaint on this site is when it rains, water pours into site and erodes area quickly and will fill your mat ect with orange clay. There’s are rentals like golf carts & kayaks. They have a big beach, park area to enjoy. Staff is friendly.

Winter Friendly Campgrounds

Tested out our new camper for the first time - loved this campground, even in the winter! Front office has an extensive selection of grocery goods, supplies, firewood, etc.

Sites have electricity and water, sewer dump is community spread across the grounds.

Our site was only a hundred feet from the lake - gorgeous view!

Big Shaded Campsites with Covered Picnic Tables

We had a wonderful 4night/5 day camping trip at Loyd Park last week. The campsites are very wooded and shady, making our travel trailer's A/C not have to work as hard as usual. The camping spots are big and each one has its own wonderful covered picnic table. Our wifi/hotspot worked perfectly so my husband could get some work done during the week. We really enjoyed swimming as well. The lake water was cool and very refreshing! Everything was very clean and well-kept. Our cost was$22.50 per night that included a 10% off Good Sam discount. Then there was a$2 per person per day-use Senior Citizen fee that equaled$16. So all total$90 plus$16 equals$106 divided by 4 nights was$26.50 per night. We had fun! (There is major construction on Ragland Rd right now. The road was a little hairy coming in with a 28' travel trailer on a one way pot-hole filled road. So I'm giving it 1 star for access right now. It WILL get better as they finish construction....soon I hope!)

Loved the tent sites

We found this place when our other reservation got messed up, but boy am I glad we did! The tent sites have water and electric at each site. Sites feel secluded and spread out and our was covered by trees so the shade was great!

There was a little litter around the campsite but my son and I tired to clean up as mush as we could before we left.

There was a covered picnic table, fire pit, and grill, and lots of nails on the picnic covering table (although they are up really high, so if you’re short it’s hard to get to them).

We plan on going back and taking advantage of the hiking trails and swimming spot!

Awesome place for the family

This park is run by the City Grand Prairie, which provides a lot of safety. Campsites are a little close together nearest the water but probably the best sites in the Park. We spent three days there swimming and hiking around. Great times!

Camping near DFW

Five Star Park located just minutes from Dallas Fort Worth. The Park is extremely clean. Campsites are all level and great for the Big Rigs. Good Sams Park

Everything for a great, quiet family getaway

This was our first destination with our travel trailer. Despite the rain and the fact that we camped in the wrong spot (whoops), we had a great time. The spot we took had double parking, so our camper opened up to pavement. There was a fire pit, a covered picnic table area, and plenty of open space for the kids to play. Due to Covid 19, many areas were closed. No day campers allowed and the closed beach and playground left the area quiet and crowd free, just what one would be looking for during a global pandemic. The park administration was kind and helpful. They let us stay in our spot even though we accidentally set up in the wrong one. (newbies). The park has hiking trails, a playground, and beach area. So close to home

First trip out since spring break! This park is great only 45 minutes from home. They have a few full hook ups and lots of RV sites with water and electricity. Sites are spaced far apart all come with fire ring and covered picnic table.we stayed in site 115 great spot close to the water.

Great place for the price

It feels like a state park, but run by the city. All sites are back in and allow for tent campers. Some sites are 50 amp, while all are for 30 amp. Larger rigs are more accomdated next to the lake. But call ahead to see which sites have 50 amp, you'll need it I summer time. Beach is great.

Large park-awesome sites!

Our first time here and really enjoyed it. The park at lakeside had recently flooded but we were not there to go to the water and our site was not effected at all. The sites are large and all come with a covered picnic table, a fire pit, a bbq grill and hook ups except sewer where we were but we didn’t need it. They have a dump station also. Great price!

Beautiful park with very spacious sites

Spacious lots that are very easy to back into. Covered picnic tables, fire pit, and grill at each site.This is a fairly large park, but very quiet and peaceful. Lots of trees and birds. Would definitely recommend this park.
