From I-40: If you are west of Asheville traveling on I-40 East toward Asheville, take exit #46-B onto I-240 East (Asheville): then take exit 1C (Amboy Road). Look for us on the right as you exit. If you are east of Asheville traveling on I-40 West, take I-40 west to exit #47 (West Asheville/Farmer's Market). Turn right at the light onto 191 North. Go approximately 1/2 mile. At the next light, turn right onto I-240. As you drive down the ramp stay right and exit (Amboy Road). Look for us on the right. From I-26/Hendersonville: Take I-26 West on I-240 (Asheville). Take exit I-C (Amboy Road). Look for us on the right.

Good management

We parked there twice in one week. In our second parking, there is no service lot available, but the manager helped us to solve all the problems. We used the next lot 10am power and water, we can use any empty lot for the sewer. We are appreciate his help.

Convenient but loud traffic.

After spending two nights here, I love this place and will definitely stay here again if we come back to Asheville. There are some amazing things about this place and some very not amazing things as well.

The good- The proximity to downtown is the best you can get in a campground. If you choose a Riverfront site, you are literally 5 steps from the back of your RV from the French Broad River. My boys and I paddled down the river on our SUP for 5 or 6 miles to Silver Line park, where my wife picked us up. AWESOME. Carrier Park, an awesome public park with an amazing playground that was built inside the old Asheville Speedway, is 1/4 mile up the Greenway. Speaking of the Greenway, it is literally at the front of your driveway, so you can walk, run, bike, scoot etc for miles and come right back to your camper door. The concrete pads are brand new and level on the river side, so setup is a breeze. The owner/manager was very pleasant on the phone. Asheville is such a cool city and this campground is in it.

The bad- This campground is sandwiched between two interstates and there is significant road noise (we have three little boys and sleep with two sound machines on full blast and a fan on high and could still hear the big rig engine breaks when we went to sleep and woke up). The sites are very close together and offer almost no privacy. The bathhouse is nice, but not ventilated well, so it is a sauna when someone showers in there. The 30 amp receptacle at our site didn't work, so we used a 50 to 30 adapter (thankfully the 50 amp receptacle worked and I was glad to have purchased that adapter).

The good vastly outweighs the bad for me, but I am hoping this review helps folks see the whole picture. The higher numbered Riverfront sites looked best, more trees and shade. 16-20 probably ideal.

Right by the ding dang highway, but the folks were nice!

This is definitely a spot for folks who want to camp for cheap and spend their time NOT IN THE CAMPGROUND. Go explore Asheville!

This location is separated from a major highway only by 40 feet or so, so there was constant car noise. Their tent camping has little to no tree cover so we were roasting by 9 am.

But! The folks who run it are sweet and super accommodating. And it IS right on the river, where we got to do some tubing, and those folks were also really nice!

This is a basic campground on the French broad river in Asheville nc. The tent site is nice. The noise off the highway is pretty annoying but if you need a cheap simple spot to pitch a tent go for it.

Decent Last Resort for Tent Camping Near Asheville

I actually loved the location of this campground because the Greenway bike Trail runs right through it.

I just didn't do enough research to understand that the camping area was basically just a grassy field with sites casually delineated by fire pits and tables.

Online, it said there were 10 tent sites but I only counted 9 fire pits.

Anyhow, there are steps down to the French Broad to launch a kayak or inner tubes and it is right next to the Asheville Outdoor Center.

Also highly recommend Homegrown Cafe for breakfast and Cascade Lounge for drinks and live music just down the street.

Not the best campground, but close to Biltmore Estate and breweries

Good: close to attractions, along the French Broad River, greenway runs through campground, nice city park down road, concrete pads, decent size sites Bad: hard to get in and out of with large camper, poor water pressure, small dated bathhouse, along highway (but noise really wasn’t too bad)

Friendly People

Location is great and staff/ people helpful and friendly.
Negatives- loud from the traffic on the two highways you are between. Ditches dug on sites which could have been dangerous for kids Campground flooded in the middle of the night. Happy they woke us up to evacuate but lost a few items that were under the trailer. Wish we had been warned earlier that there might be a possibility so we could have put things up high or away

Ok park

Park is ok for overnight stay, if traveling, the best thing about the park was the riverside sites. Interstate traffic was loud, WiFi wasn’t strong enough to connect to, no amenities other than the bath houses (we didn’t use) & walking trail that apparently ran along most of the length of the road,sites were muddy (due to all the rain) when you come off the interstate you have to make a extremely hard right to get into park, not possible with a big rig...had to go up to the office/shop and turn around.

Centrally Located in Asheville, but be sure to stay on the River Side

It’s a very central to downtown Asheville and provided you’re river front it’s a nice campground. Unfortunately all of the sites that aren’t river front back up directly to the interstate — a little noisy to say the lease. Everyone was friendly, and we spent most of our time touring the city.

Close to town and interatate

Close to town to go check things out. Not a far drive to get to many great restaurants, breweries or cideries. Right on the river. Concrete sites, not extremely level, but good enough. For $45 it was a good, clean, quick stop. A multi use path goes through the center of the campground so there is tons of Edwardian and bike traffic through the center of park. The folks we saw were nice. Didn’t get to walk the path, but would be a great option.

Riverfront Campground Adjacent to Cool Watercraft Rental Spot

Wilson's is right on the French Broad River and is neighbors to "French Broad Outfitters,"-a company that rents kayaks, canoes, and tubes to take down the river. We wandered through Wilson's while renting from French Broad Outfitters and wished we had stayed here. If we had, we would've been at FBO every evening. They have a bar and outdoor games like corn hole, making it an awesome spot to chill with a beer and hang by the river.

Wilson's spots don't offer a ton of shade, but being by the river is a huge plus. The French Broad River Greenway, a shared bike path, runs right through the campground and is great for taking you to nearby places by bike, like Carrier Park or ClimbMax Climbing Gym.

Close to river, little noisy

We camped here in September. It is mainly an RV park, but the woman who owns it has 2 acres of open field along the river. There are no campsites, but we were welcome to pitch a tent wherever we liked. There was a small bathroom/shower facility very close and wifi accessible. I loved being near the water-- we went tubing straight from out campsite on Saturday! But its close to the highway and you can hear cars at night. Also, it got very crowded our second night and tents next to us did not observe any sort of "quiet hours".

Good not great... but one of few campgrounds so close to Asheville

Pros: -Camp right next to French Broad River (and you can rent tubes for a discount from SkyTubing b/c you stay at Wilson RV) -Less than 10min to downtown Asheville -In River Arts District

Cons: -$20 to camp in a field with no specific site... you could almost stay in an Airbnb for as cheap -Too many other people nearby who were noisy late when I was there -Woman in charge was overbearing, and I felt like she was watching me the entire -Not enough parking when campsites are full

Recommendation: Honestly, it wasn't worth $40 for two night and being that close to downtown. I would have rather camped for free (roadside camping in Pisgah national forest) or camped at Lake Powhatan a little farther away.
