Best of both worlds!

Situated in NE Arizona, you get to experience cooler weather, fishing across the road and a local general store near by for those forgotten items. The camp grounds are clean and have ever amenity necessary without feeling like you're at a hotel. We like the spots in the back half of the grounds.

Clean, spacious and comfortable

We visit every year. The sites are spacious, there is are shared spigots and vaulted toilets in each loop. In the center, there are hot showers and traditional toilets. (The showers have been closed due to COVID). The campground is across the street from a gorgeous reservoir. Down the road is the Lazy Trout corner store with all the things you may have forgotten. If you feel like driving around, I suggest Big Lake and Alpine. It is a perfect area to camp, hike, explore and unwind. This year is much busier than other years, because people are eager to get out. However, be warned, we were the only ones wearing masks in public spaces, so be vigilant about your health before arriving. When we arrived last week, Rolf C Hoyer was at capacity. We were given instructions to the disbursement camping. It was free. The camp sites were really cool. You could see each camper put their little touch on the site. Of coarse, there were absolutely no amenities. Disbursement is a steep drive up a narrow, gravel road. After 36 hours, my ear lobes and face started bruising. Once the nausea set in, I knew I was not prepared to go 8500ft. Rolfe C Hoyer proper is not as elevated, and I never had issues there. But if you know that elevation maybe an issue, explore the surrounding areas cautiously.

Best campground ever!

Love this campground, clean and quiet! We went in June during fire restrictions but it was still a nice site. Lakes nearby within walking distance dogs had a blast!

Awesome!!!

As far as AZ camping goes, it doesn’t get any better than Greer! In my opinion, it’s the most beautiful lil town in AZ. We stayed here over 4th of July weekend. The days were slightly warm, but you have plenty of shade under all the pine trees. It gets into the 40s-50s at night. We use a generator, but quiet time is 10 pm, so bring warm clothes and blankets. There is a few lakes to choose from that are stocked with trout year round. There is one store that is just a few minutes drive, it’s small and a lil pricey, but has what you need. The camp host sells firewood and ice. There is flush toilets and showers free to use, as well as vault toilets sInce they lock the bathrooms at night. I can’t even explain how gorgeous this place is, anywhere in Greer is a good spot. I think we paid $20 per night. We can’t wait to go back!
