About

State Park

Welcome to Westmoreland State Park Campground, nestled near Montross, VA. This place is a real treat for anyone looking to escape into nature. The campground is open all year and offers a variety of accommodations, including tent sites, RV spots, cabins, glamping options, and even yurts.

One of the standout features here is the access to Fossil Beach. It's a short walk from Campground A, and it's a fantastic spot for fossil hunting. Visitors have found everything from tiny shark teeth to ray teeth. The beach itself is sandy with lots of rocks and clay, making it a unique place to explore.

The campground is well-equipped with amenities. You’ll find electric hookups, drinking water, and showers. Pets are welcome, so feel free to bring your furry friends along. There’s also a camp store and a visitor center, which are great for picking up any last-minute supplies or learning more about the park.

For those who enjoy a bit of privacy, the sites are nicely spread out, often surrounded by thick forest. This makes it a peaceful place to relax, though you might want to bring some bug spray if you're visiting during the warmer months. The roads to the campsites are paved, making it easy to navigate, and the sites themselves are generally level and well-maintained.

Fishing enthusiasts will love it here, as the park is perched on a cliff overlooking the Potomac River. There’s a boat launch at the opposite end of the park, making it convenient to get out on the water.

Whether you're here for a quick stay or planning to explore the trails and beaches, Westmoreland State Park Campground offers a beautiful and serene setting for your outdoor adventures.
