Nice spacious campsites

First time at this park booked last minute so options were limited wasn't sure what leftovers we would get but ended up with 2 great sites. We lucked out and had 2 trees just right for hammock relaxing but it seems like lots of sites have no trees just depends on the section of park not alot of privacy between. Sites but there huge so you don't feel stuffed in next to everyone. Shower houses are limited 1 in each section but plenty of flush bathrooms located all over and kept very clean. Internet works very well verizon and att.

GREAT VIBES

Absolutely loved the short overnight stay. Perfect sunset and sunrise experience, the grounds are kept well, bathroom/shower house is as clean as can be 😻🥰 perfect for families!

Spacious sites

Dillion is one of our favorite camping destinations. They have very large sites and there is no trouble finding one with trees. Some of them do hold water in the bottom inside loop of section A. But they have one of the nicest state parks we have been to

Great State Park

Dillon State Park was a perfect weekend spot outside of Cincinnati (2.5 hours). Campground was immaculate. Despite being a very hilly area, all the sites are level. The bathrooms we had access to were heated and perfectly clean (although the bathrooms closest to our site were locked). The park is gigantic. Despite that we had the entire campground to ourselves over New Years Eve weekend. Because the campground is so large(>150 sites), I'd image it feels a bit cramped during busy season. However, there's a decent amount of trees and the sites along tree lines wouldn't be bad in peak season. It was re-assuring to see the ODNR officers drive through multiple times over the weekend even though it was empty. There is plenty to explore and see and it's easy to run into downtown Zanesville if you need something but you still feel pretty isolated at the campground. The beach was fantastic and we also walked the storybook trail. We didn't attempt any other trails because of the mud but the park had plenty to offer. Last note, if rain is predicted, the place turns into a complete mudpit (see pictures of standing water), plan accordingly. We will be back (with our bikes and kayaks next time when it doesn't rain).

Paved Sites, Great Disc Golf

Nice sites

I enjoy Dillon for a place near home. Sites are larger and free for disabled veterans. Frisbe golf and clean bath house.

Cabins are fun for families, sometimes full of skunks, great trails

We enjoyed renting a cabin with the family at several different times.

The mountain bike trails are so rugged and fun, difficult for biking. You can hike them too, and they offer nice views of the lake.

The area seems to have a skunk issue at times, and it can get smelly near the cabins.

The cabins have nice fire pits and kitchens have enough space and facilities to make a nice family dinner.

The lake is large enough to boat on and you can do paddling sports there easily.

The park has tennis courts and lots of other recreation: boating, hiking, swimming, biking.

Overrated!

Booked this State Park due to good reviews on another website. We were disappointed. RV sites were very close together. Site required minimal leveling. We were on like a hilltop and overlooked lower level RV circle. Seems like many on lower level were part of a large group and had dogs and that barked endlessly !

Seems each RV had an additional 1-2 vehicles or local friends visiting making driving through next to impossible.

No full hookup but potable water available throughout camping circles. We were by a water spout and every time an RV/Trailer came in they of course had to fill up. Check a campground map and try to avoid these sites. Some, despite signs not to, even washed their dishes at the water spout.

You have to drive to the lake and picnic area. Picnic area appeared well kept. We did not swim due to frequency of E-Coli warnings at this lake which was disappointing as it was very warm and we would have enjoyed a cool lake swim.

A delightful park for families, lots of RVs

We had a great time in the walk-in, non-electric section — easy to get to with its own dedicated parking. These sites had good space between them, but no real barriers from other tents, so just depends who’s staying near you!

The full electric sections were packed with RVs and trailers, looks like a fun place to be for a bit, but glad we weren’t tent camping between them all. Access to water sports and trails is great!

Quiet Wilderness Getaway

Dillon Lake State Park is located about 10 miles west of Zanesville, OH in a heavily forested area. There is no road noise from the local route 146 used to access the campground. There is reasonable space between the sites to allow for some privacy and to allow you to spread out. Area C is the most secluded area. All RV sites have 50A/30A electric. Limited sites have full hook-up. There is a dump station near the entrance. There is also a small camp store at the entrance. Overall, a nice place to spend a weekend.

Small but Nice

This is our second time camping here and we really enjoy the park. It was a little different this visit than our last one since it’s sometimes it’s about the other campers and not the park itself. We had several issues with off leash dogs and that is not okay. It was also 97 degrees so we didn’t hike as much as usual. We did visit the new Storybook trail and it was a fun little trail. The camp store was closed due to COVID but we were able to get ice from the check in booth. Overall I still really enjoy this park!

Nice Lake

We have camped here twice and have our third trip booked for the Fourth of July. We love the disc golf course here as well as the hiking trails and geocaching. The only negative is your water fill is along the roads within the campground , so when you go to fill you hold up traffic and black the road. Site 141

Family campground

Great sized campground. Some shady sites backed up to the woods. A few camping loops. The camp store is always really nice. There is a lot of area around there for hunting and hiking. The beach area of the lake is pretty muddy and murky. We don't tend to swim there. FIshing is usually the better option if you want to enjoy the lake. It is an overall nice campground. Average showers & bathrooms. There is a neat lookout area to view the stars at night. Disc golf course runs right near the campground.

Big campground with lots of amenities

This is a nice state park with a ton of sites. We were there in late October and it was super quiet. There weren’t many people around at all which was kinda nice. They do have an awesome laundry facility with commercial washers. I definitely took advantage of that. There are basketball courts, playgrounds, a disc golf course, mountain biking trails, hiking trails– you name it! Tons of amenities here and the facilities are really nice. The nearby town of Zanesville has a lot of stores too if you need anything.

Nice but busy!!

So we had a beautiful lot! Right by trees and plenty big enough with flat ground! If you like busy campgrounds this is the place for you! Us personally like it a little more peaceful. I think we also caught it on a kids bike wkend or something because there were kids riding bikes everywhere. Now we’re used to the usual kids riding bikes where we respect them and they respect us but these kids were zooming in front of us and we were backing up trying to get away from the area they were riding and they were zooming behind us. It’s a really nice campground it’s just not for us. The camp store was nice the store clerks were friendly. They serve hand dipped ice cream for about $3.25 a bowl and they also serve icee’s for about $1.40. So not too bad of priced and it gave the kids a nice walk down there and a treat to enjoy. There is also a pizza shop in Nashport that delivers to the camp site!! The menu is in the camp store. It was pretty good food but pricey. We spent $71 for 3 subs, a lasagna dinner, a salad, 12 wings and a xl pizza ( which was not XL and the crust was paper thin- but it did taste good to me). The good thing is it’s only $2.50 to deliver and it’s super convenient the night you get there! So in the end it was almost worth it due to the kids being hungry and not having to rush to get the fire started. Although the next day we went 15 min to the Walmart and there were food places there that if I would have known would have went to instead of the pizza shop. We had lot 183 and it was plenty big enough for a camper and a couple tents with parking space along the side of the road. There is also a marina and a dam you can fish at right around the area. My husband and daughter went fishing at the marina and got some bites but that was about it

Needs updated badly

Many sites are not level. Many sites have NO shade. Only Electric available at each site. Shower/bathroom facilities look to be from the 70's.

The best Ohio State Park Campground I've been to

I have been extremely disappointed with Ohio State Park campgrounds. They have been congested, poorly maintained, badly landscaped, and staying at one felt like I was set-up in the middle of a mall parking lot.

However, Dillon has been a completely different experience. The people in the office are very nice, the pad is almost perfectly level, the grounds are well kept, and the buildings (while a bit long in the tooth) are well maintained.

I haven't made it down to the lake yet, but so far I'm a happy camper.

A Weekend at Dillon State Park

I camped at this state park in the very scenic rolling hills of central Ohio on a hot and sunny weekend and was happy to find plenty of shade. There are 183 electric sites in this campground, many shady, and almost all having at least partial shade. Pets are permitted in all sites except 1 through 32. These electric sites are divided into three sections with restrooms with flush toilets, shower houses and playgrounds in each. The restrooms and shower houses I used were very clean.

There is also a walk-in section of non electric sites that are different than what I usually think of as walk-in sites because parking was just yards away.

The camp store was well stocked and probably has anything you forgot. They also sell firewood.

The huge 18 hole disc golf course seemed to be a popular attraction.

I enjoyed the five well marked hiking trails through the woods. These trails range from easy to difficult, the longest being 4.4 miles.

From the campground, you will have to drive to the beach or hike a couple miles though the woods as I did. My only complaint about this campground is the beach. There are no lifeguards or concessions and I am told, that after a rain, this beach can look uninviting. Near the beach is a wading pool with a fountain for younger children. Adjacent to the beach area there are tennis courts, basketball courts and a very shady picnic area with tables and pavilions.

There are boat launches for your boats at the marina but the only watercraft that can be rented are kayaks and canoes.
