Great place

We came in on a Wednesday end of July. Got a nice space with electric close to the pit toilets. These are by far the cleanest pit toilets I e ever used. They even smelled clean. Very nice host. Did mind the traffic from the highway that much

Beautiful site

First come first serve sites along with reserved ones. Amazing pull through spot along the river. Pit toilets and firewood at host camp. Would have given 5 stars but camp host was charging fees that did not align with Forest service website or posted signage.

Beautiful, but close to the road.

Site's are not close together. Great place to spend a few days and not a bad drive into Yellowstone. The only downside is no dump station.

Loved This Place

Right before entering the west Yellowstone entrance. We were lucky enough to get a spot. Super calm and relaxing. Clean too. Would recommend if you cant find a place in the park.

Off the grid

A Surprise- right next door to West Yellowstone

Yes, it's right on route 191 but it is clean and well managed. Good for a night or two if you need extra time in the area. We needed such a day and stayed in site # 6.

Sites 7, 8 and 9 looked good--- but some back right up to route # 191 with whizzing cars and noise--- not a place to let a dog run loose.

Cheap w/ Everything you Need

We hit a few days of rainy weather so we weren’t getting enough solar charge to our batteries. This was a perfect stop to hook up with clean vault toilets and potable water. The host was extremely helpful and sweet too. 10/10 recommend.

Close to Yellowstone West Entrance

We arrived on a Monday morning later than we planned and still managed to grab one of the four remaining sites. All sites are FCFS. Sites closest to the road have water and electric but more road noise. We were in site #3 and it was roomy enough for our Tundra and 23' Oliver. Lots of space between sites. With our senior discount we paid $10. The town of West Yellowstone is five minutes away and very convenient for groceries, propane refills, laundromat and restaurants. This is grizzly bear country, so a clean camp is a priority. Visit the grizzly discovery center to learn more about your responsibility to keep these beautiful creatures safe.

River front property

This campground has a beautiful view of Bakers Hole which is a fly fishing dream. The beautiful landscape background makes these spots enjoyable. There is a lot of road noise but you are less than five miles to the West Gate to Yellowstone National Park.

Quiet night, thunderous night!

We came back to this campground expecting it to be convenient to access to Yellowstone. We found a site pretty easily after 11:00 am. This is a first come first serve campground with a fair amount of RV sites and tent sites. We chose to go around the loop that was no generators. Good choice. Bear boxes were at every site and pit toilets were easy to get to.

Nice spots. Really nice trees for shade

Great place to camp very close to Yellowstone west gate. Plenty of space between camping spots, some have full electrical hookups. NO DUMP STATION! Potable water on site. Overall a nice place for $28 a night with electrical.

Fun Family Camping!

We drove through Yellowstone & came out the west side to find this great first come, first served national park. We have been tent camping all around Yellowstone & this campground is one of our favorites! Lots of trees seperate each site & give privacy. Vault toilets are very clean. There are water spigots around the campground. You can hear some road noise occasionally, but I did not find it bad. The town of West Yellowstone is close & cute, too.

Good site right out of Yellowstone!

We found this campsite out of Yellowstone. We found a campsite that was comfortable with a nice table and fire ring. The bathroom was very far from the site we stayed in, but they were scattered around the campground.

Many mosquitos! Right by the river so it was good for fishing. Fresh water available and they have good trash systems. There are signs warning of bears but we didn't see any.

Bakers Hole Campground - A hop skip and jump from Yellowstone NP

Bakers Hole Campground is the perfect spot for a Yellowstone National Park jumping off point. Located just over 3 miles from the park entrance puts you in easy striking distance of just about everything in the park. The campground sits along the Madison river, making it a nice choice if you enjoy fishing. It features paved roads with gravel parking pads, vault toilets, picnic tables and metal fire rings at each site, and most sites have their of bear food storage. This is a first come first served campsite, but just because it doesn't take reservation doesn't mean it will be easy to find a spot, this campground fills up fast. 33 of the 73 sites have electricity. Two fully ADA sites are available. Drinking water is available at several taps located throughout the camp. The friendly camp hosts are almost always on duty and patrolling the camp. They also have firewood for sale if needed. The campground is near the highway but didn't notice to much noise during the night.

Ranger review Outdoor Element's Kodiak Survival Braid

Outdoor Element's Kodiak Survival Braid is a great survival bracelet. A very cleaver idea to place the ferro rod and striker in in the bracelets buckle. It sparks up very nicely making our charred cloth and cotton balls with Vaseline easy to get started. I got the large size which is just a little big, but the medium was not quite big enough. I liked that the Kodiak came with a sample piece of para cord to check out the features in the cord it self. Pulled out the Jute and made a little nest and gave the striker a try and after a few attempts got a spark to take hold and had a fire. With fishing line in the para cord and a hook hidden within this bracelet is all set to save you behind if needed. Will definitely be taking the Kodiak on future outing.

Madison River fishing, West Yellowstone just down the way (& road noise)

Baker's Hole is located very close to West Yellowstone. This is both a pro and a con -- pro, as it allows you to zip into town if you need some groceries, want to grab a pizza, etc. You can literally be in town in 3 minutes.
The "con" side is that the main road into West is VERY close to many sites within the campground, and the road noise is pretty constant. We had a last minute trip and scored Site #16 (Electric) and while the site itself is great (timbered shade, roomy parking spot for the camper, hammock-friendly trees, food lock box, etc.) it is literally 40-50 yards from the road.

At one point, about 30 Harley's roared by, and I couldn't hear my wife talking to me at the picnic table. Not good.....But, that is the deal if you land in one of the spots nearest the road.

My advice (and plan next time) is to get there early (it is first come/first serve, no reservations) and head directly to the spots closest to the river. Not only does that put you within 10 seconds of fishing, they were a fair bit quieter than those near the road.

The camp hosts check in and drive around in their golf cart frequently, taking care of the place. They do a great job.

All in all, I would recommend this campground, as you have easy access to fishing the Madison, a quick trip to West Yellowstone if needed, or to start a trip in Yellowstone Park.

A few tips:

- Bring bug spray and a citronella candle/Thermacell, etc. anytime in the summer. The mosquitoes can be really bad.

- Bring a hammock; great trees to sling one up can be found at almost every site

- Bring your flyrod!

- Bring bear spray, and be diligent about food prep and storage. This is grizzly country.

Left FURIOUS!

It looked like a great place to stay. We got in early, as it is advised in there description. Payed for our sites, just to return at the end of the night just to find others in our spots.

As it turned out the camp host REMOVED our PAID tickets from the post.

When discussed with the man, he was rude and unapologetic.

Not a pleasant way to end your vacation day!!!! This situation could have been handled in a more kind and respectful way. Publicly published words cannot explain how furious we were!

Amazing inexpensive camping bear YNP!

Beautiful! On the Madison river! Great space, quiet & fantastic location! West Yellowstone is only 5 minutes away. We traveled into YNP a few days & also up to Big Sky MT! We stayed here an entire week. We moved to an electric site our last night to charge up. We are in a 28’ camper.

Convenient and clean campground

This campground is just minutes away from West Yellowstone and the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. the camp was clean and well maintained. A great recommendation if your visiting Yellowstone National Park.

Baker's Hole Montana

Just outside the west entrance to Yellowstone (I think it's only 3-4 miles away from the entrance) is a good backup campground in case you can’t get a campsite in the park (a common problem in the summer season). This busy first come, first served campground is run by the Forest Service, so you are really relying on solid campground hosts if you need help (and they were great!). There are 70+ sites with use very mixed, meaning you could have a tent on one side and an RV on the other, however the electric sites are all grouped together along the road and the non-electric sites are along the river. Most of the sites had at least a few trees, some had many, so there will be likely be a spot to hang your hammock. The tent pads were gravel, so they drained well, but not the best for comfort or east of staking. Toilets were clean and there was a nice fishing dock on the river. If you need a shower there is a laundromat on the north edge of West Yellowstone as you come into town that has pay showers.
