    Bastrop, Louisiana

Chemin-A-Haut State Park, near Bastrop, LA, is a solid spot for camping all year round. This place has a bit of everything, from tent and RV sites to cabins and even glamping options. The park is known for its peaceful, shady campsites and clean facilities. The bathrooms and showers are some of the best you'll find, and there's even coin-operated laundry available.

If you're bringing a big rig, you'll be happy to know the park is big-rig friendly with full hookups. Just be mindful of the site you choose, as some can be a bit tricky to level. Sites 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 are your best bet for a level setup. The inner loop sites are shorter and slope from back to front, while the outer loop sites slope front to back.

For families, the park offers two playgrounds and a kids' trail, making it a great spot for little ones to burn off some energy. The lake is a hub of activity with folks fishing and paddling. If you're into kayaking, you might want to check out Castle Tree, but call ahead to see if the water levels are right for a good view.

The park also has some nice cabins right on the water, perfect for a more comfortable stay. And if you're into hiking, there are some beautiful trails, though the walking trails might not always be well-maintained.

Overall, Chemin-A-Haut State Park is a great place to relax, enjoy nature, and maybe even make some new camping buddies. Just keep an eye on the weather and site conditions, and you'll have a fantastic time.
