Located on the South side of Colorado Springs, the Golden Eagle Campground offers incredible views, 12+ miles of hiking trails, lakes for fishing, beautiful wildflowers and mountain vistas with a wide variety of wildlife.

There are over 250 campsites including: 125 pull through 30/50 amp electrical full hookups, 75 electric water sites; 50 tent sites.

Good location

Amazing trip

We had the most amazing vacation camping at Golden Eagle. From the start, I was looking for a campsite and stumbled onto their website after failing to find anything in the national parks or really anywhere. I called them to book because we had 10 people traveling, and I wasn't sure about the size of each site. The ladies on the phone were so helpful. We booked 2 adjacent sites. When we arrived, it was more of the same thing; the people working in the office, the camp hosts that drove around the campsites, everyone was so friendly, informative, and helpful. They answered questions and explained everything perfectly. I highly recommend camping here. It's also located within driving distance to MANY Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs attractions. We visited Pikes Peak, Garden of the God's, Manitou, the Manotou Springs Cliff Dwelings, and Denver during our stay.

Super nice staff!

We’ve been here about three weeks now and we love it! The staff is super nice and you’re in nature a bit but close to everything like the grocery store etc. the spots need a bit of leveling and kind of get washed away when it rains but other than that, it’s pretty perfect in my mind. The little trail goes to a nice view and is great exercise. The little pond is peaceful as well.

Felt like I was sleeping in a gypsy community

Wasn't impressed. It was just a place to lay out heads before pressing on. Crying babies all night. Dogs barking all night. We are in a truck camper and were placed in the middle of the tents. Dusty dirt pad and grounds.

Great campground

The campground is mainly dirt, can be muddy at times. But the views and campground hosts over ride those negatives. Our 40' class A broke down as we were leaving blocking one of the roads. It took over 24 hours to get a tow truck. They were more than accommodating with us.

Beautiful spot

Really pretty spot nice fishing pond you have to pay day to day to fish in it. Bathroom buildings were pretty old and a little dirty. We appreciated the bug museum on site for our toddler but also had to pay to get in there. Should have been included I think. Had a little store but no grocery type items because "thier season was almost over." We stayed in September. Beautiful view of mountains there though, dirt spots, mostly level. Small plates area for kids. Pretty easy to get to. Close ish to cave of winds and red rock

Good place for quick camping

This campsite is nice. There are a handful of people who live there so ot doesn’t completely feel like camping. There’s an extremely beautiful hike to the top of a small mountain, you’re able to see so much of CO once you get to the top. The campsites are pretty close to each other though they do have a few good ones that are secluded. Campsite is the best when it’s not that packed, or else your on top of the other campers.

Loved it !

Make sure you get here before dark. We didn’t and we went to totally wrong way. Very rough terrain in our class C. The campground staff saved us. She actually walked and showed us which way to go. And even after that they were so helpful. This is a very nice campground with a beautiful view of the mountains.

Just okay

We chose this campground because it was our maiden voyage with our new travel trailer and we just wanted to test the functionality of everything. It’s old but we’ll maintained, tons of wasps and biting black flies though. Sites are dirt and about half the lots are flat and the rest need serious leveling.

Overall I enjoyed our site. Corner lot with quick access to everything.

Perfect spot for us!!

Everyone has different likes but for us it was perfect!!! Rustic and still has that dry camping feel. Wifi is weak but why go camping if you need wifi. Spaces are close but not to close. If you want space to camp, why go to a campground, go dry camp. Staff and hosts are friendly, hosts brought wood to our neighbors. Had deer walk right through camp both days. Fire pit was in a weird location but it still works. If your looking to glamp, I would go somewhere else. I would definitely return!!!

Great site for a few nights

Good sites for tent camping and they have a beautiful hike that takes you all the way up a huge hill. Several people live there so it takes away from the camping experience…and the cleanliness of the camp. But, again, a great site for a few nights!

Nice campground for RV!

All amenities functioned good. The hole to the sewer was a little janky, but nothing too disruptive to our dumping routine. Wifi is free, but is very slow and very unreliable. No streaming videos are allowed. We had fine AT&T cell service though so used our phone hotspot. Nice and clean laundry facilities. Campground had everything we needed. They opened up a spot for us day of that they normally don't rent out which was super nice and instead of just staying one night, we ended up staying a week! We could have moved to a more shady spot on the camp after the first night, but we stayed put. Friendly staff and great customer service. They don't do weekly rates, just daily or monthly. Pretty rugged and simple campsite, but pretty road to drive on to get there and very accessible to Colorado Springs! We had to hook up and unhook on a small incline which was a little tricky, but I don't think they were all like that across the campground. The most exciting part of this place is the accessibility to miles and miles of trails on site. You can walk to from your RV site and get a legit workout in. You definitely get some elevation gain for sure, especially on Trail 2! It was good to be here to adjust to the elevation. The people around us respected quiet hours and we had no problem bad issues with noise.

Beautiful View

This is a large park with beautiful views. The roads & sites are not ideal. We felt like we were off roaming in our RV. We watched a pull behind bottom out while pulling out of their site. Not a great playground but it did have a swing set & big tires to climb. We were in a 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒖𝒙𝒆 site # 478 which has a yard with a picnic table. All hook ups available but the water was on the opposite side & pretty far. Luckily we also had our cold weather hose so we hooked them both together to reach.

Close enough to town, but out in nature

We wanted to spend time in Colorado and Manitou Springs, but not be in town overnight. This is just off a main road, but is far enough away to not hear the noise. The first night we were in site 197 and it was really close to other sites. The second night we moved to 482 and it was much better. We faced the hills and didn’t have any neighbors. If it is busy the sites would be close together.

The hook ups were okay. The black water hook up was old and didn’t screw in place; we had to place the metal plate over the top to keep it down and in place. Other campgrounds have nicer stub ups that are treaded.

WiFi was not reliable, but didn’t miss having the device for a couple days.

Staff was really nice and helpful.

Clean, quaint, pretty

The tent sites are separated from the RV side so that's nice. We got there after hours and they had our paperwork for our site ready for us. It was nice and quite, away from road noise, surrounded by mountains. The bathrooms were nice and the water pressure was amazing. There's a pretty walking trail around a small fishing pond that we rode our bikes around.

Great Staff

Staff was great here, extremely friendly and helpful. Great for families, super clean and well kept. There’s laundry and showers close to every site. WiFi there works as well. Awesome location close to a lot of great landmarks. Would camp here again.

So amazing!

Seriously looking around the area we stumbled upon this gym. It’s amazing. The tent set ups are perfect and the facilities are a bonus. Love the location to bounce around the area.

Side of the mountain side

Sites share a power pole but still not so close as some places. 🚿 Showerhouse & bathhouse was clean and handicap accessible. Museum on site was small but interesting. Friendly, helpful staff.

Long term Camping..

At it's finest! This is really a great location and campground for long term stays. In spite if the numerous hailstirms in the area, this site is fabulous!! A was here for 2 months and found the site to be well maintained and patrolled. Staff were always friendly and helpful. most sites are well shaded and well drained during rain storms. Also, be sure to see the May Tropical Museum while you are there.

Why so High??

I am confused by this site because it is small and expensive. I called ahead and they had no openings but said to swing by after check in to see if there were any people who did not show. I did and took a quick drive through the campsite and opted to not spend $40 for the sites here. It was way to small and packed together.

Expensive for what you get.

This campsite cost us $41 for one night in a tent sight. The sights were very close together with few trees for shade and privacy because of it. Luckily it was not very crowded on our side of the very large campsite. They do however have Wi-Fi and running water for toilets and showers. They have short hiking trails with beautiful views of the land and mountains. Fishing licences are available upon request for their small but full lake, however if you already have an state fishing licence you will have to purchase another one through them because they do not accept the state licences. A separate area for pets to run and play is also available at the back of the park, but otherwise, like most campgrounds, pets are required to be leashed. Long term camping is available here with many full timers helping out around the site. Very clean all around.

OK for a quick getaway, but some problems

We stayed 2 nights, camping in a tent. We paid $36/night for a tent spot with water and electricity. While we didn't have a horrible experience, I'm going to rate the campground as a 3 because it's "just OK". The employees are friendly, but the office seemed to be quite chaotic.

Once past the office and the steep incline to the camping area, the road turns to gravel. The road is reasonably maintained, but there are ruts. The gravel road kicks up dust when vehicles go past.

The shower/toilet facilities are a basic cinder block building with wooden stalls for toilets. Showers provided a decent flow of hot and cold water, but the flimsy plastic curtain provided little privacy. We saw cleaners at the bathhouse every morning around 8:30 and again of an evening.

There were some petty annoyances we experienced, but what most visitors will notice is the ambient noise level. SH 115 is about 1 mile (1.5km) away and there is a lot of road noise. Especially the "jake brakes" on heavy trucks. A lot of activity from Ft. Carson is heard--helicopters flying; heavy guns being discharged; reveille, retreat, and taps on the PA.

Nice place not far from the city

The campground is within 15 minutes of Colorado Springs and Fort Carson, so expect to hear reveille in the morning if you are up at 6:30 am or are a light sleeper. When checking in at the camp office/ May Natural History Museum we were given some brochures for the area which came in handy while exploring and finding things to do. The sites are close together but have more than enough room for a vehicle and tent. I was not pulling a trailer, but if you are there is a sharp turn and uphill to get to the campsites. The road is paved until the top of the hill and then turns to gravel which is very well maintained, however if there has been a lot of rain the road does get soft. Every site has a picnic table, fire pit, and wi-fi (at no extra charge) throughout the campground. There are two shower houses/ bathrooms which are cleaned at least twice a day are are in pretty good shape. There is a fishing pond which you can fish for $6.00 a day even without a state license. There are two hiking trails that wrap kind of around Cheyenne Mountain and they offer some nice views. There is also a playground in the middle of the campground for the kids. All in all this was a nice campground to stay in. The only reason i don't give it five stars is the proximity of the sites to one another.
