Directions

From US 322, near the top of Seven Mountains, follow signs for Poe Valley State Park. On Big Poe Road, continue past Poe Valley State Park for three miles to Poe Paddy State Park. Stay straight; do not travel up Pine Swamp Hollow Road. From Millheim, go west on PA 45 for 1.5 miles, then follow signs south for 12 miles to the park. On Big Poe Road, continue past Poe Valley State Park for three miles to Poe Paddy State Park. Stay straight; do not travel up Pine Swamp Hollow Road. No paved roads lead to the park. .

Wonderful campground in the middle of nowhere

We loved this place. Small campground with spacious spots. No cell phone coverage (that is a plus for us!). Downside is the vault toilets. They were fairly clean, but not my favorite. Also the lack of anyone being in charge at this small park allowed one site to continually blasting the same album of contemporary cover songs done in the ear-wrenching stylings of a late-era hair band late into the night. But I digress. The park is small but wonderful, right in the middle of some beautiful country.

Great little campground

I’ve stayed here twice for camping trips. It’s a great small campground that has basic amenities. The experience is likely highly site dependent, as there are a few distinct areas to stay depending on your needs and luck. There is NO cell service and park rangers do “rounds” but aren’t stationed at the site. There are a couple of water pumps, several well-maintained pit toilets, and an emergency phone. It’s about 20-30 min to gas. There’s no camp store here but about 3.5 miles away at Poe Valley there’s a store, real bathrooms and showers, kayaking rentals, etc. There’s a guy that sells firewood just past Poe Valley. The Poe Paddy sites I prefer are well-shaded, fairly large, surrounded by trees, and private (but you’ll be able to hear a couple neighbors). Dogs are only allowed in the RV loop, which is intense gravel, so be sure you have a good sleeping pad if you’re tent camping. The campground is in the middle of the dense Bald Eagle State Forest with lots of hiking opportunities. The creek that runs through Poe Paddy is awesome for wading and people also tube it when conditions are right. Get a Purple Lizard map for best enjoyment of the area.

Good park and nice shade at the sites

Walks are nice, we went to the tunnel about a mile away. Very beautiful when crossing the bridge. You can go to Poe Valley park to the beach at the like in about 20 min.

Beautiful. Quiet. Fun.

We stayed here with friends and had a lovely time. The campground was maybe only 1/2 full and the camp sites near us were empty so we had a very quiet and peaceful weekend. The creek and river are perfect for curious little ones to explore. Great fishing spot. The walk to the tunnel is quick and easy for all ages. Beautiful spot. We will go again.

Nice!

I grew up camping here and it's a great place to stay! Penn's Creek runs beside it...it's a lot of fun to float the creek. Great fishing too! No cell service.
