Quick and sweet

A clean and well maintained park. The staff is friendly and quick to respond to anyone’s needs. No restaurant within walking range so have food on hand. There are a few places that will deliver but the food is a 5 out of 10 at best. Hwy 81 is right next door so you will hear road noise.

Stay Away if Your RV is Not RVIA Certified

My bride & I roll in a DIY Class B (2017 For Transit High Top & Extended Length). It is VERY WELLL MAINTAINED inside & out. It is 100% Self Contained. Stayed at over 100 Campsites.

Made online Reservations without any problem. Walked into the campground office to get my spot & the first question was "Do you have an RVIA Number". That is when I was told I could not stay at Candy Hill. The individuals (Jonathan & Eddie were nice & kept stating "I am only doing my job". My online reservation was cancelled & my money was refunded. This was around 05:00 pm on  Feb 3rd 2024. Left & found another campground. CANDY HILL ONLY WANTS RV's that are RVIA Certified.

Overnight stay

Nice location that’s well maintained. Sits right next to a busy road so it can be a little noisy. GPS links in The Dyrt both took us short of the actual location do I used the actual locations on the camping site’s web page.

It's OK

Candy Hill is a small size campground. It has an exceptionally well stocked Camp Store. You can get Fresh Eggs from the Campground Chicken coop. Staff was accommodating and friendly. There marketing skills are pretty good. Crazy additional charges like site rental charges on top of the site rental charges?? Extra adult on holidays(if more than 2 adults per site). Wifi first 30 min free, after that$, faster wifi more$$....lol Would I choose to stay there for a week or longer- probably not. There is not much to do. You can bike around the hole campground in less than five minutes.

Fantastic location for access to Winchester. Aggressive and stressful staff

Booked a 3 night stay here, as that was the required minimum. However, we were happy to leave after 2 nights. The staff on the golf carts are extremely rude and micro-manage your every move in the park. They will not even let you park yourself and they force you to pull your rig up to exactly where they say, which caused issues when we were going to leave, as we almost had to hit a pickup truck on the site across from ours to get out. We had site D15, which is a pull through site, 30 amp not 50, no sewer even though there's big manhole covers on the site for servicing the septic system of the park, the water spigot leaked the entire time we were there and continued to puddle near the electrical. I found a sizable shard of glass and a metal stake laying along side the concrete pad. We were in town visiting my family, which I hadn't seen in over 6 years. They harassed us about a visitors parking pass for my mothers vehicle even though we were still only leaving one vehicle on our site as we car pooled to go spend time together in Winchester. This costed$10. We came back briefly to pickup my wife and my brother followed us to stay with us on our way to dinner, they immediately swarmed his vehicle harassing for another visitor pass. This is not a welcoming campground at all, they have no hospitality whatsoever. They nickle and dime you for no good reason, as the daily rate isn't a cheap one for the quality of service. The internet is a tiered system where they try to force you to get an upgraded pass to have any connection worth while. They wont let you have a fire ring unless you buy their wood. The campground itself is well situated for access to Winchester and has a lot of potential, but management is horrendous and will leave you feeling stressed rather than relaxed like camping should be. Would not recommend and will not be returning.

Previous stay was nice. Next stay the manager was extremely rude

Let me say first off, I have never given a negative or bad review to anything or anyone, thats just not me. Our family stayed here in May, 2022 and it was very enjoyable now 2 months later. We invited our family to stay at the campground, now July, 2022 the management was charging our family for 2 Grandchildren as visitors each day. When speaking to the management about this, he told me it wasn't my business. My cousin had told me how she approached him the day before about the charges and he literally was yelling at her and that it is what it is and shes not getting any refunds. I said to him that on line it states 2 adults and 2 children and the manager stated"I don't need to explain details to me, on line or to anyone" I said that is false advertising, he said he would change it immediately but then said he was listing me and my family as problematic campers and not welcomed back. I told him that they had already been reported to Good Sam's and the Better Business Bureau and he said he didn't care. That they were leaving Good Sams anyway. I also asked him about customer service, he said he didn't care and he didn't need to give any. PASS THIS ALONG AND if you care for camping or your family, DO NOT GO TO CANDY HILL CAMPGROUND IN WINCHESTER, VA.

RUDE PEOPLE! GO ELSEWHERE

Stopped in to check out the campground. We are locals interested in finding places close to home to camp. Was greeted very rudely outside by a man on a golf cart. In fact he was screaming at my disabled boyfriend for not knowing where to park. They did not greet us kindly inside either. Ya know why? Because of the looks of our van. We are restoring out 89 Econoline campervan. To us it's awesome. This guy didn't want us driving around his park and treated us like shit. My suggestion...go to the nearby Watermelon campground. We are excited to spend our summer there. Did the same thing there. Asked about lots, looked around and was welcomed so nicely. Stop giving money to assholes

Worst Campground in the World

This campground is a joke...they charge a fee for everything...online reservations fee, campsite lock, and then you can't cancel and allow someone else (a relative) to stay on the site because we couldn't make it...

Inflexible and has too many ridiculous rules...

Then they claim others are renting all their sites and then renting them for more money...what a lie! They have 24 sites available on a weekend in May! Why aren't people booking here? Because the rules are ridiculous and they are liars!

Very nice in a “meh” location

This campground is very well maintained, with better than average space for each spot. Unfortunately, it is located right on a major highway. This means there is easy access, but the traffic noise is less than ideal. But the gem of this place is the management and staff! They greet you at your window when you pull in and point you toward checkin, an easy process. Then a staff member in a golf cart escorts you to your site, and help you get settled. When we had an issue with another guest they handled it promptly and with professionalism. There are great little perks here too. A fenced dog park, a variety of free activities, a children’s “mining” activity, and chickens on site provide fresh eggs for purchase. We really like this campground and will be back!

I only called to inquire about the cost. Passing through and needed a spot to decompress for a few days. I was told it was $40 a night for a tent site for one person. The guy who answered was super nice but I thought that was really steep. Didn't see cost info anywhere online so thought this might help others.

Nice place but very noisy.

Loved the grounds, facilities were well maintained and clean. Sites were a bit close and not level. Would go back again except for the non stop noise from the interstate which kept us up all night.

Happiness for our wedding anniversary ❤️

Nothing but goodness for journey back home. Arrived fashionably late as usual for our vintage 1977 VW pop up bus. So thankful for the staff to connect with us after hours and welcome us as if it was in person. Being happy at this spot is without effort. Thank you so much Cove tree farm❤️❤️❤️

Not

Our greeting simply insulting on more levels than one. My family has used a mint condition 1977 west VW bus pop up camper for the last 20 years and have never met such ugly hearted people. Our three daughters are grown and my husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary. So traveling through the country back home we were eager to meet another adventure spot. Sadly we not only shamed for the means of our traveling home but refused blatantly without discussion.  My husband is a hard work public school teacher and I am in the health profession field for 30 years. Two weeks a year we allow indulgence for ourselves. No worries thought Candy Hill is at a loss for some pretty amazing travelers.

My bus family ate worthy of more.

Big love even to the bad management.

Sincerely

Darbe

Quiet and clean

This campsite is right off of the highway (not super busy at night)…if that is something you think will bother you, don't stay there.

That being said, we loved it. It is quiet and clean. The traffic was actually relaxing to us. They have a nice pool, 2 playgrounds, neat bikes you can rent, gold cart rentals. Best of all, they sell bags of special stones and fossils for you to mine. My boys had a blast with that!
