Doran Beach Camping has more than 120 RV and tent sites that are open year-round.

Doran Regional Park features a wide, 2-mile stretch of beach on Bodega Bay and is ideal for walking, picnicking, playing in the sand, flying kites, surfing, and bird-watching.

A boat launch provides access to Bodega Harbor and Bodega Bay for sport fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, and kite surfing. A rock jetty on the west end of the park is a popular spot for fishing and exploring sea life.

Doran Regional Park features campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Reservations are required and can be made up to 12 months in advance.

The park includes five campground areas: The Shell, Gull and Cove campsites are located between Bodega Harbor and Doran Beach Road while the Jetty and Miwok campsites are between Bodega Bay and Doran Beach Road.

Electrical hook-ups are not available. Generator hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Potable water is available throughout the campgrounds. Restrooms feature flush toilets, coin-operated showers and electrical outlets. Dogs on leash are allowed with a fee. Dump station fee is $7.

Great Place but impossible to get into anymore!

It sucks that so many people go here now. Allowing people to book so far in advance takes away from people trying to camp that have to travel from great distances that cannot risk arriving for the first come first serve spaces!!!

Large and popular Sonoma County Park

General: Located between Bodega Bay and Bodega Harbor, this county park has over 140 sites in four campgrounds: Shell, Gull, Cove, and Jetty. There is also tent camping, a group campsite, and a hiker/biker camping area. No hookups in any site.

Site Quality: Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Sites all appeared to be level. Depending on your site, you may have more privacy/separation than in others. Site 21 (in Shell) was nicely positioned, however, the sites on either side of us were not occupied during our stay so we had more privacy.

Bath/Shower: Self-contained units with a toilet and sink with soap, HOT water, and air dryer. One coin-operated shower house for Shell, Gull, and Cove campgrounds, located between Gull and Cove. Additional showers in the tent-only section and the Jetty campground. Generally clean.

Activities: Hiking, fishing, birding, beachcombing, wading, and water sports. There was a very short boardwalk and sandy walking paths, although some of these were very overgrown.

One thing I appreciated was propane cylinder recycling. We learned there is a program where select vendors will refill the small cylinders and we hope this becomes more readily available. This is a much larger county park campground than we have been in before and it was very busy when we were there on a weekday in late October. Nice but I prefer the smaller and quieter campgrounds.

Lovely water access

This campground is lovely. Easy access to potable water. Helpful hosts. Access to both the cove and ocean. For us the downside is that we were surrounded by large RV’s, which is not our preference. After 8 when they generators turned off it was lovely.

If I returned to this campground my preferred spot would be 75 or 76 as they are private and have bay access.

Nice

Nice campground, no hook ups is one downside, but would stay again. Employees are very nice and helpful. Bathroom showers clean. Verizon cell service 5g strong coverage.

Perfect

Great campground to visit with the family and get away. Fires are allowed most of the year. The campground has coin operated showers and flushable toilets. As well the day use area allows fires in designated fire pits of course. Restaurants and bars are about a 10 to 15 minute drive away. Highly recommended the best campsites are near Cove camp

Not for privacy or quiet

There's a loud boat horn, all day and night. Miwok is set up as a group campsite so there is no privacy or space between neighbors. There is no view other than other campsites or the parking lot at most of the Miwok campsites. Prepare for cold wind and wetness (fog, humidity) at your camp. The facilities are safe, clean, and monitored.

Beautiful views for days!

Beautiful spot to spend a little time. Take in some coastal wildlife and walk along the beach. There’s no hookups at RV camp sites so be prepared. There’s potable water connections to top up in the site areas and there’s a dump near the entrance. Generator hrs while I was here were 8-8 but with the wind noise I never heard one. It was windy as heck (mid May) but ymmv. Cell service is spectacular. I carry AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile and it’s some of the best service I experience camping anywhere.

Beautiful Bay Camping

Great campground right on the water with beautiful views. We stayed in the Jetty Campground. It’s breezy (not many trees to block the bay winds) the other campground loops looked to have more wind cover) Bathrooms/showers were okay needed a good cleaning. Campground host was very nice. Pay for showers and dump station. No hook ups. Only markets nearby are very pricy so stock up before you come.

Great area to fish, crab, view wildlife (sea lions were so cool) and go tidepooling.

Just beautiful

Wow, this beach side camping is just what you think of when you RV. Sites are well spaced, clean, well tended. There is a dump station on site, and water. No electric or hook ups. The camp hosts were great, even leaving sand dollars out for our kids as a souvenir. Be prepared, the wind can be brutal! Waking up to the sunrise and sea birds is a fantastic memory.

Peaceful dune walks

We stayed here for a night at the tail end of a December California adventure before flying out of SFO the next day. We wanted to get close enough to the city that the morning drive in wouldn’t be too taxing, while also sleeping beachside one last night. This location accomplished the task and made for an interesting close to a fairly remote trip. We camped on the jetty facing the water, so the view helped. But sites are very close and very packed in. With little to no cover from plant life, you will want to be prepared to be seen at all times. Benefit—gentle dunes covered in succulents lead the way to the waterside where there’s a long stretch for walking punctuated with benches. And if you’re able to get to them at night, the dunes offer a fairly beautiful view of the stars. Coin operated showers connected openly to the restrooms, plenty of nearby towns for supplies, group fire pit areas near the restrooms and host—don’t forget to reserve in advance and expect a line during the check in process

Big Beach - Better Suited for RVs

I am a tent camper. This regional park is a draw for the pristine miles of beach you have access to. The camping however, is best suited for RVs. Mostly because of the fact it is open and the fact that it is windy. No shelter for tents.

It is large campground with lots of RVs all year round. It also gets a lot of day use visitors so it can be crowded. Used by fishermen to take their boats out in Bodega Bay.

But if you hear a beach calling you - you can walk on this beach for literally miles.

You need a reservation well in advance. One of the campground has the Bodega Harbor on one side and on the other side the ocean (Jetty).

There is access to a trail that goes back towards the highway and is great for bird watching.

It is well maintianted and a plus is coin operated showers.

Sand & Sunsets

One of my favorite places to camp! The tent camp sites are kind of small, but very close to the beach. Beautiful sunsets. Campground is near bodega bay and shops. Fishing is allow but it’s pretty shallow. Rangers frequent the campground. Clean bathrooms and showers.

Fun Surf Spot

Nice little campground right on the beach. Nice long beach that's great for walking, surfing (if there's swell), and just relaxing in general. Tends to have a bit of a breeze at night with not a whole lot of natural protection for tent camping in my experience.

Beach camping by boat ramp

This is an easy camp to just roll in and set up. Boat ramp is just across the road if you're here for fishing. Bathrooms aBeach is fine but if you're looking for waves better to keep going northwest around the point to Salmon creek. Bring quarters for the showers! The strand of beach is quite long- great for a run/walk. Running the road back toward the camp entrance takes you past some interesting slough land with a walkway and tons of egrets and herons. This place gets really crazy during crabbing season (typically Nov-April).

Tent camping is secluded. RV is parking lot.

There are only a handful of tent only sites, most of which are secluded by trees. We have gone twice and enjoyed it. The group site is large and open. Beach access is very easy, especially with kids. The beach is wide, flat and great for families. The first Saturday of the month the rangers do a tide pool talk. They bring sea creatures (like sea stars, sea slugs etc) to share and let the kids hold them.

One thing to be prepared for is the wind. The tent sites are VERY windy, especially at night.

Right on the beach

I arrived late around 8 pm. It was very windy 30 to 40 mph. My legs were spent. Thank goodness i had the wind at my back fo the majority of the day. I went straight to the hiker biker camp site set up camp ate and crashed. The next am i got up took a 3 dollar 🚿. And looked around

This campground is great rv full h[k ups tents hot showers fishing crabbing ocean on one side bodega bay the other. Wind surfing surfing. All in all many many rec oppurtunities in this area. Now on my bicycle into the abyss HWY 1

Beautiful Campground between a beach and a bay. Views all around.

This is a very unique spot, on 2 mile stretch of beach on one side and a bay on the other. The long strip of land is the

Check the weather and the wind before selecting your campsite. You might be tempted to pick one of the bay side sites for the views but keep in mind that the wind picks up at night and it can get really windy. There is a reason this is such a popular spot for kite boarders.

There are wonderful picnic areas and sheltered tables if the wind picks up. Spend your days walking the beach or flying a kite. And for those playing Go there are over a dozen pokemon stops and two gyms on this stretch of beach.

And I don't usually gush about bathrooms but, these are some of the nicest well designed and clean bathrooms I've seen in a campground. The bathrooms between the Cove and Gull Campground loops are exceptional, the bathrooms at the end of the beach and in the Shell campground are the old 50's style. Oh and it should be noted that the newer bathrooms also have electric outlets for styling your hair. The showers are pay and take $2 for 5 minutes.

If it's too windy for you then go down the road on hwy 1 to Bodega Dunes campground. It's sheltered from the wind but, you miss out on all of the views from your spot.
