Hidden Gem BLM Paid Campsite

My brother actually found this campground for me on Google maps. I wanted to spend some time near Klamath Falls to do genealogy research on my Dad's ancestors. My brother located this little gem because it reminded him of a dream he had that tied into things that actually happened in the life of my paternal grandfather who drowned in Klamath Lake trying to save another man when my Dad was a boy.

Once I unhitched I explored the area quite a bit. The water backs up to form what to me looks like a small lake because of a dam on the other side of the river from where the campground is located. I took some pictures there too. It was quiet campground. BLM with a camp host a plus for my circumstances. I wanted to be able to unhitch my trailer and no worry if I was gone all day doing research.

Regular rates are only $7.00 a night but I paid only $3.50 because I'm disabled and have a federal parks access pass. There are no hook-ups but you can get water from a central location (fill your own containers) and there are bathrooms. No showers. I have a portable shower I use so that's not a deal breaker for me, I'm used to boon-docking with no services. I have my own WiFi device on my cell phone plan. The service was so-so. The park doesn't offer WiFi.

I stayed at least a week in early June 2020. I was woken up by what sounded like someone knocking on my door one night (no one was there) which confused me but later I realized it was pine cones dropping onto the top of my trailer. It was cold for June but a welcome relief from the 113 degree weather I left behind in AZ.

People were super friendly. It was very quiet with only a handful of campers staying on beyond the weekends. It filled up completely on the weekends, not just with campers but with day use fishing and boating. It was a really nice park and I'll go back again.
