RV Camping on Historic Harford Wharf

This is an RV only campground in Avila Beach. Parking slots are spread along the road to Harford Warf (interesting history!) as well as some overflow spots (for now) up the hill. There is a shower/laundry house down the hill at the entrance to the Port. The best spot is on the point, but the spot is usually taken by regulars and full timers. The history of the town is fascinating- at one time it was home to a massive oil storage facility. It leaked from day one and polluted the soil. Then the oil tanks caught fire and burned for days. Eventually the entire town was either raised or moved while the polluted soil was excavated. The town today has only a few origional buildings that were stored while things were cleaned up.  The entrance to the nuclear power plant is in the middle of the RV park, so expect high traffic during shift changes. It is important to note that this is RV only. There is a nice shower house with laundry down near the wharf as well as a restaurant. There are also some really nice places to eat and shop in town. The beach near the point is dog friendly. In the late afternoon you can spot sea otters hanging out busting shells on their bellies in the kelp beds. There is a 14 day camping limit before you have to move your rig elsewhere before you can come back 24 hours later to start building to your 14 day limit again.
