This campground is beautifully maintained and has areas for traditional tent campers, RVs, and whatever else suits your fancy! The sites have privacy in the fact that there are hedges grown between each one, unless you book a group site. The convenience of being so close to town, yet feeling like you’re in the forest is hard to beat. There are showers & restrooms, although the showers operate on quarters. The staff is always friendly, and they have a good supply of books/games that you can borrow from the main office. Access to the ocean is quick, and there are multiple bike & hiking trails nearby! I’ve also attached some pictures and a video of the nearby tidepooling scene.

This campsite has loads to offer ~ there is access to the reservoir, of course, and along with this comes the garnets lining the shores. It is a perfect adventure for beginners, as all you need is a shovel and some screens to begin your search. The garnets are beautiful, and keep the kids (college age or elementary!) entertained for hours. And if you need to cool off, you can hop right in! The campsite itself is a bit primitive, but the activities more than make up for it. Another bonus is that the way in leads you right through Virginia City which is a fun little ghost town. There’s also another little spot off the road about a mile and a half down the road from Virginia City where there’s a possibility of finding corundum!

It is absolutely beautiful, and the ability to fall asleep under the stars while listening to the rushing river nearby is exactly why I would recommend other people stay here. It’s located pretty close to the Crystal Park entrance, and allows one to be a bit further away from the RVs and majority of the campers. We had a group of 8 people, and two camp sites was plenty. Some people hammocked & said the groves of trees were perfectly spaced for this, while others stayed in tents. There is a campfire with an attached grill, along with a nice picnic table.
