A beautiful state park located on the western side of Texas. During the Conservation Corp era, this state park was established on an artisian, limestone spring where 28 million gallons of water flow from each day. The CCC built a beautiful spring fed swimming pool for the public to enjoy and so that a native fish population could be preserved. The pool was constructed with a shallow end depth of 3ft. and as it progresses, the depth reaches 30 ft. Perfect for the fish to live in harmony with people swimming, and great of you are a scuba enthusiast and want to take a guided dive. The water is full of refreshing minerals and for a minimal entrance fee, you and your loved ones can enjoy the spa like experience of Balmorhea. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and take great care of this park. The grounds were clean, the camping was exquisite and I long for a return trip to this gemstone in our nation's park system.
