SOCAL tent camping love

I’ve been to Channel Islands, all over the Los Padres, big bear and the southern sierras. Where else in southern California do i NEED to camp?

Anza-Borrego Desert SP and Joshua Tree National Park are perfect for winter camping.

I haven’t camped there yet, but Carizzo Plain looks pretty interesting. There’s two grounds and lots of BLM land as well. interesting wildlife and amazing wildflowers in the spring.

I camped there a few years ago during the superbloom! I will say that there isn’t much to do there if you aren’t visiting during wildflower season

The superbloom is amazing there- but there’s also great bird watching and wildlife viewing and some interesting hikes. Soda lake is dried up in the summer and a very unique experience walking around on the dry lakebed.
