Hi! I’m planning a camping trip to Mendocino County. What are your favorite tent campgrounds and hikes in the area? Waterfalls, swimming holes, beaches, etc?
Lake Pillsbury is great.

Go to Hendy Woods state park for old growth redwoods!

There is a farm at Jughandle State Beach called Jughandle Farm (that The Dyrt asked me to review) that has amazing tent sites right across the beautiful beach and has an amazing bridge and a beautiful ecological staircase hike to a pygmy Redwood forest. https://thedyrt.com/camping/california/jughandle-creek-farm
Van Damme State Park has great camping, it’s not free though. If you go there, there’s a great Fern Canyon trail at the end of the parking lot.
Big River is also great, it empties into the ocean.
