## Overview

 The Signal Mountain Campground is centrally located inside Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) and provides a convenient basecamp for accessing all the park has to offer. This 80-site campground is located adjacent to Signal Mountain Lodge which provides many amenities you might need for your National Park adventures. The campground sits on the southeast shore of Jackson Lake and offers easy access to the lake waters and short walks to unparalleled views of the Teton Range. The area is frequented by various park wildlife, large and small as well as a variety of bird species. The Signal Mountain Campground is normally one of the first campgrounds to open and last to close in the park and can often have lingering snowpack during the opening weeks after heavy winters and possible early wintery weather at the end of the season. Due to the variability of weather in the Tetons, visitors should come prepared, especially during the months of May and October. 
## Recreation

 There are many popular activities to be taken advantage of from the Signal Mountain Campground. Hiking is a popular park activity and the campground provides direct access to two of the park\_\_\_s shorter trails. The lakeshore trail is a 3 mile out-and-back trail following the lakeshore bluff to a popular backcountry campsite and the Signal Mountain Summit trail is a 6-mile loop trail. Both trails provide breathtaking views and opportunities for wildlife viewing. Being centrally located in GTNP, many of the park\_\_\_s classic hikes are located within 15-20-minute drives including the Jenny Lake area, Lupine Meadows, Cascade Canyon, String Lake, Taggart Lake and Paintbrush Canyon trails to name a few.\_\_ Another popular activity at the Signal Mountain Campground is playing on Jackson Lake. This large alpine lake stretches nearly 7 miles wide and 15 miles long with a maximum depth over 400 feet. Water temperatures generally vary from 50-70 degrees during the campground\_\_\_s season and is popular for trout fishing, power boats, kayaks and paddle boards. Signal Mountain Marina offers kayak, canoe and motor boat rentals which affords access to the lake for those traveling without their own gear. In addition, Signal Mountain Lodge offers guided fishing trips on Jackson Lake and scenic float trips on the Snake River, contact the Signal Mountain Lodge front desk for more information. Popular spots for swimming are at the boat ramp and picnic areas located at the north and south sides of the campground.\_\_ Photography and sightseeing are other popular focuses for campers staying at the Signal Mountain Campground. Want that iconic sunset or sunrise photo of the Tetons? Look no further. The area offers numerous great opportunities for landscape and nightscape photography often with the bonus for some wildlife shots. This is a great spot to spend your \_\_\_rest\_\_\_ day during a busy vacation, but still feel like you can enjoy the park and not have to feel the need to get back in the car. 
## Facilities

 The campground offers tent camping and pull-in/back-in sites for RVs or trailers up to 30 feet. This campground offers 24 sites with 30 and 50-amp hookups which are popular during the early and late season. The campground is organized in three loops with the first loop mainly offering electrical hookup sites, and the last loop being \_\_\_generator free\_\_\_. Tent pads are available at select sites and all sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear-proof food storage boxes. Parking pads and areas for tents can vary greatly in size and care should be given when selecting a site. The campground provides a dump station, trash collection and recycling receptacles. Four conveniently located comfort stations provide campers with potable water, flush toilets, camper sinks and hot water. The campground is part of the Signal Mountain Lodge facility which provides a number of additional amenities including token operated showers and laundromat, as well as internet access and on-site cell tower service. Other amenities include a general store (groceries, gas, camping supplies, coffee bar and grab and go food options), restaurants, bar, gift shops, guided float trips, guided fishing trips, boat rentals, cabin rentals and more.\_\_ 
## Natural Features

 The Signal Mountain Campground sits slightly elevated from Jackson Lake in a predominantly lodgepole pine forest which continues up Signal Mountain to the east. Signal Mountain itself is an isolated glacial moraine which rises over 800ft and offers sweeping views of the Jackson Hole valley. The campground is located directly across the lake waters from Mt. Moran, the park\_\_\_s second tallest peak. The dramatic Teton Range, from the Grand Teton to the south to the park\_\_\_s northern peaks are visible from the lake shore and a few select sites. The campground is frequented by various park wildlife including red fox, coyotes, bears, bats and mule deer to name a few. Often bald eagles and osprey are found perched amongst the lake shore trees as they search the lake waters. To protect the park wildlife and fellow campers, proper food storage is enforced and regularly monitored 
## Nearby Attractions

 Aside from centralized access to all Grand Teton National Park\_\_\_s offerings including the Jenny Lake area, the Signal Mountain Campground offer\_\_\_s convenient access to all of Jackson Hole and Yellowstone\_\_\_s South Entrance in less than an hour\_\_\_s drive. The Jackson Hole Airport, 29 miles south, provides numerous daily direct flights from many cities around the country. The town of Jackson, Wyoming is located 38 miles south and offers hundreds of dining and shopping options as well as galleries, museums, tourist attractions, movie theaters, medical facilities, auto repair shops, and more. Teton Village, Wyoming located 30 miles south, offers many dining and shopping options as well as gondola and aerial tram rides. The campground also provides easy access for starting your Yellowstone National Park adventures which is only 25miles north.

Signal Mountain Campground — Grand Teton National Park

Signal Mountain campground is my favorite in the park. Some sites have electric and it sits near Jackson Lake so some sites have a nice view. There's restrooms throughout the campground but also nice restrooms and super nice showers/laundry located near the entrance. There is a small store with gas, a restaurant with a killer view, a bar, and a couple gift shops also here. A small lodge provides a nice area to just sit and take in the views. Cabins are also available here.

Best Amenities in the Park

This campsite #75  at $22 was under construction.  We arrived in the Tetons about 1:30PM in early June.  At the entry they listed the campgrounds with open sites.  We chose this one and drove there.  Registration was manual, first drive around, find an open site, drive back to the registration kiosk and drop your envelope in the slot, place your tab from the envelope at the site.   The road was gravel and dusty, we competed for a site with others, you did not know if a site was selected till you drove back to the kiosk.  Not far from the site was the bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks and electricity.  We opted not to make dinner and went to check out the Signal Mountain Lodge for a drink  but first we took showers.  Adjoining the Laundry just behind the Ranger registration was a laundry shower facility.  You bought tokens in the laundry and used them to turn on the shower.  My shower was $5 for 7 minutes.  It beeped in the last minute.  The Signal Mountain Lodge area had a gas station/convenience store and bar restaurant.  We explored that evening and drove around Jackson Lake to the Jackson Lake Lodge.

My husband and I enjoyed our time here! We stayed for 3 days in early June. Nice size campsite, quiet neighbors, nice trails near by. Clean bathrooms too! We will be back.

Nice stay at the NP!

The campground was very wooded and near the lake. Very nice and the hosts were welcoming. The only downside was there were no showers at the campground. Very nice otherwise.

Nice Campground

Most beautiful place I've been. Camped on Jackson lake with a perfect view of the mountains across the lake. Met great people and had a blast.

Grand Teton

Good campground at the foot of the Tetons, right next to Jackson Lake. More tents than anything else in this campground. Somewhat level sites to pitch the tent, all sites have the standard fire rings and picnic tables. The best part of this campground is the shower house. New and modern, each shower room has a small bench, a sink and mirror, and a token operated shower. Get your tokens next door in the laundry room. A short walk takes you to a well stocked general store (craft beers!), gas pumps, and a lodge with several options for eats. But the best part is the views of the Tetons over Jackson Lake. 

Signal Mountain

This is one of those campsites that has some great proximity to wonderful views but is far enough into the park that it doesn't fill up immediately. I showed up late on a holiday evening and was still able to snag a spot before it filled up. There are plenty of available resources at this park to include fire pits, tables, electrical hook ups, water hook ups, fire wood, and even showers. The proximity to Jackson Lake is also a wonderful feature of the campground. If you are into night photography this is a great place to get away and find some pretty nice shots.

Enjoyable night

For campsites there are only a couple with a view of the Tetons but all you have to do is walk a few seconds down the trail and there they are in all their majesty. The amenities are in walking disntance and everywhere you go has a view. The staff are incredibly friendly and know all of the best spots for hiking, fishing and viewing. My favorite part is that they allow your furball friends to stay with you. Not many places in national parks will allow that. There are even a couple of trails you can take them on and staff gave me a little doggy welcome back on arrival. Will be back soon!

Beautiful campground that’s pet friendly!

Trailer spots were very roomy, we didn’t have a lake view from camp but just a quick walk down a path and there it was.  Lots of spots with electric hook ups.  We arrived about 11am and walk up sights were down to about 4, so plan ahead.  Great location to explore the Tetons, we would stay here again.

Great spot

This is a really nice campground. The soft ground made tent camping comfortable. Clean bathrooms that were lit through the night. Some sites close to Jackson Lake beach access which provide stunning views. Arrived at 6:15am on a Sunday and felt so lucky to find an open spot. 

Beautiful views of the Tetons & Jackson Lake

First come first served. Get there around 11am to grab a site with a view, there’s only a handful. If those are full get a site near the entrance so you’re close to bathhouses, laundry, store, restaurant. Beach is nice with amazing views! Pay showers are pricy compared to what I’ve seen around the country. Laundry was affordable. Roads and sites are TIGHT! No RV’s over 30 feet allowed! Overall, an amazing campground with trails within a 10 minute drive. 

Beautiful!

Campsite 12 might be the best campsite in the U.S. with unobstructed views of Jackson Lake. I had never been to the Grand Tetons before and I have to say that there is no comparison between this and Colter Bay. With less than a third of the sites as Colter Bay, signal mountain was blissfully quiet. Signal mountain was a total zoo. Traffic, housekeeping golf carts, huge RV’s. We travelled with an 18ft RV which made fitting into the spot  a little challenging but so worth it. Laundry and showers were open until 10. Super clean too. We will return! 

Best site of my life

For a single couple, the trade off is huge. Quieter, more privacy, and better views. Wish we'd stayed more nights here than in Yellowstone and will definitely in the future (as well as book a year early to get a water view). Loved how close the bathrooms were with seperate paths through the trees, but wish the doors had latches on bear country. 
Yes showers are $6, but for the experience? Worth it in comparison to a free shower. With the small campsite there was no wait for showers or the laundry. The store was super well stocked, to the point I'm now willing to forget something to save on room. 

Better Than Staying In Yellowstone

Stayed here 5 nights during our stay in the Tetons. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Lodge is just next door that has a great gift shop. Restaurant has excellent food with beautiful views of the Tetons on the back deck. Clean restrooms and bathhouses (pay showers) with laundry next door. Campsites we’re well kept. Just remember to store food in bear boxes. Campsites we’re also spaced out well with trees surrounding each site. It’s just a short walk to the waters edge of lake. Convenience store has many food, tobacco, camp items as well as gasoline and coffee bar. Wildlife will roam through campground in early and at night. Elk, fox, and coyote came through ours. We’ll worth the stay and will be staying here again.!!

Good National Park. Lots of amedities. Lots of rules too. Rather small sites but not on top of everyone


Good park

Campground has showers, laundry, and wifi along with the general store and gas. A nice place to recharge after dispersed camping for a few days. They are doing some construction this fall at the grounds so it was loud during the day. Right on the lake but it is so low you cannot get out to the water. 

Good amenities 

We were here for 2 nights and saw several RV's crash into trees and stakes.   The reservation system says no RV's or trailers over 30 feet.   The lane you drive to your site is very narrow so very little turn radius.  The sites are short so you only have 30 foot length.   One RV was about 37 feet and crashed several trees and hung over the very narrow road.   One pick up backed into a tree trying to fit next to his trailer.

The park is beautiful.  The campground has electric at sites and a dump station and fresh water fill, also short and narrow.  There is a gas station, coffee shop, laundry and shower house close to the dump station and all are very nice.   Being in the park and located at about the middle of the north/south is a plus, but if you are more than 30 feet, pick one of the other campgrounds in the park.  No cell service unless you park in the lot by the lodge.

Campsites are tight

Beautiful campground in Grand Teton National Park. Very close to the iconic Oxbow Bend. The sites are spacious and mostly level. Some sites have electricity. There is a dump station in the area, and potable water you can fill tanks with. The sites are not very long so most trailers need to detach from the tow vehicle. The campground sits right on Jackson Lake. Deer, elk, and foxes can often been seen in the area. The bathrooms were clean with running (very cold) water. There were no hand dryers or towels in the bathrooms which seemed strange but at least there was heat. There are public showers but they were closed for the season when I stayed. I had spotty service with Verizon. The nearby Lodge has a nice restaurant, gift store and small general store. There was also a small sink for visitors to dump gray water.

Beautiful location 

Quiet! Campsites nicely spaced with lots of shrubbery between sites for more privacy. The tent pads are generously sized and flat, parking is also flat if you're sleeping in a rig. Large, private bear boxes for storage. A fox visited me by my campfire each night ❤️
Showers are nice (on a timer). Easy walk to the lake. Convenience store is well stocked with natural food choices, great espresso and wifi. Also offers cheap gas station. The deli offerings at the lodge are good. Grab an early morning breakfast burrito and head up to signal mountain for sunrise for a memorable morning!

Best site of my trip

The campground was nice and close to many of the trails in the park. Had plenty of amenities nearby. 

Amazing place

A little tight backing in.  My site was very spacious.  Just steps away was a beautiful view of the Tetons.  Great space for afternoon cocktails!  
The flushing toilets were nice.  The showers are very clean.  You do have to pay for those.

Very nice campground 

This campground is awesome. You have your own private view of the Tetons. It feels like it should be $1000 a night to stay here not 50.

Campground is small and cramped together. Site 17 is a tent only site with 15/16 behind it. The other campers would walk right in the middle of site 17 because I don’t think they notice the trail behind the bear box leading to their site. Easy to find and get to. Bathroom is just across the street. There’s showers and laundry at the check in office
