Big, but calm and scenic!

I was expecting GV to be crowded like the rest if ys, but it was really spacious and serene. lots of trees for shade and privacy. Our site felt huge and just a short walk to the lake. (loop f). we liked the cg so much that we even took a day and stayed there to rest from the crowds and driving!

GV is on the south side of the loop, so not exactly central, lots of driving. it’d work well to stay here if you also stay further north. but we didn’t want to move sites and this one was reservable.

staff was very nice. we arrived early so they were willing to move us if we didn’t like our site (which we didn’t need to). laundromat and shower hours were shorter than publicized, so that was frustrating but the facilities were nice.

also, GV and Fishing Bridge have auto/RV service depts. I had a bad propane regulator so it was great to find something in the park, if even for a few bucks more than usual.

right next to the campground is west thumb, which isn’t as popular as grand prismatic and old faithful, but we loved being able to see the smaller springs up close. def worth a stop.

the jr ranger talk at GV was a good try. glad we did it with our kids but not really sure what the ranger was talking about!
