1 Review of Cougar Cabin
A Park Service Cabin

This is one of my favorite places to camp in Yellowstone. First of all, Lamar valley is amazing. The hike in is absolutely stunning. The cabin in this valley was built in the 1930s and survived a grizzly bear breaking in and getting trapped, a moose breaking in, and it survived under a fire blanket during the fires in the 80s. The cabin has bunk beds, a table, a wood stove, and an outhouse - along with anything else you might need in the backcountry (although, this cabin may only be available for park staff or by special request). Overall, it’s a beautiful area and the cabin is along my favorite trail to hike in the park. There’s gorgeous wild flowers blanketing the hillsides, and a lovely river right next to the cabin. I stayed here twice while I worked in the park. By far my fav spot - and I camped all over Yellowstone.
