Lake George Campsite

Sylvania (Clark Lake) Campground is located seven miles southwest of Watersmeet, Michigan, adjacent to the 18,327 acre Sylvania Wilderness Area. This 48-site campground provides a home base for visitors who venture into the wilderness on day outings. Recreation Sylvania's abundant lakes provide plentiful non-motorized boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing opportunities. Other popular activities include hiking and viewing wildlife. Facilities This campground consists of four camping loops with a total of 48 campsites and provides drive-in campsites that can accommodate tents, trailers and motor homes. All sites are spaced with natural vegetation for screening. Each campsite offers a wood table, fire ring, lantern post and parking spur. Drinking water is provided by faucets in loops 2, 3, and 4, while two flush toilet facilities and one accessible vault toilet are evenly spaced throughout the campground. Also located adjacent to the campground is a day use facility that has showers, a picnic area, canoe access landings, trailheads and a swimming beach. Located adjacent to the campground is a water and sewage dump station. Natural Features The old-growth forests and pristine lakes in the region provide habitat for a wide range of animal and plant life, including rare orchids, bald eagles, loons and osprey. The wilderness contains 34 named lakes, some with sandy beaches and others surrounded by record-size red and white pines. The Ottawa National Forest is comprised of nearly one million acres and is located in the western reaches of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The forest's rolling, forest covered hills extend from the south shore of Lake Superior to the Wisconsin border. Lakes, rivers and waterfalls are found throughout this beautiful landscape. The Sylvania Wilderness encompasses 18,327 acres of primitive lands and is part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Visitors can camp in 50 designated campsites within the Sylvania Wilderness. Visitors enjoy endless canoeing, fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities.

## Facilities

Sylvania Wilderness Backcountry Camp is not a physical campground located at one location. The 50 individual sites are located along eight lakes within the Sylvania Wilderness. Camping is allowed only at designated sites. Campsites are primitive, but each is equipped with a campfire ring and a wilderness latrine.

Chequamegon National Forest Perch Lake Campground

Located on the scenic, wooded shores of Bear Lake, and just 12 miles west of New London, Bear Lake Campground & Resort is your one-stop-shop for a little lakeside relaxation and recreation. The campground at Bear Lake offers more than 150 campsites for pitching your tent or parking your RV/trailer. Most sites are back-in, with a few pull-throughs, and can accommodate vehicles/trailers up to 30 feet. Sites are equipped with electrical hookups, water, picnic tables and cooking grills. Some sites are located right along the lakeshore, with nice views. Campground amenities include flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Campsite rates are $31–$60/night, with seasonal and extended stay discounts. To enjoy some downtime at Bear Lake, hang your hammock and enjoy a nap or a good book under the shady pine trees, or lounge at the beach by the lakeside. When you’re ready to play, head for any of the sports fields, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, or putt-putt golf course and get your game on. If you want to cool off, go for a dip in the lake, or rent a kayak or aquacycle for some paddling fun. On summer weekends, enjoy live music performances, and meet fellow campers at the tiki hut beach party. And if you’ve worked up an appetite, drop in to the resort’s bar and grill, which offers a variety of burgers, sandos, pizzas and snacks. Are you hungry enough to take on the Belly Buster?

Bear Lake

This campground's 26 wooded sites are located on the shore of Richardson Lake, a 47-acre lake with plenty of bass, northern pike, and panfish. Take your boat or canoe on the water in search of wildlife along the shoreline. Then relax on the sandy beach or take in the view of the lake from the picnic area that is located on a hill above the swim area.

If you are looking for a base camp to explore area trails or a destination campground with a family friendly atmosphere, try the Emily Lake Recreation Area off Forest Road 142 west of Lac du Flambeau. The Emily Lake Recreation Area on the Medford-Park Falls Ranger District consists of a campground with 11 campsites equipped with a parking spur, campfire rings with grill, picnic table, vault toilets and drinking water. There are accessible vault toilet facilities at nearby interpretive trail at nearby Round Lake Logging Dam. There is also an accessible fishing pier at nearby Newman Lake. Day use facilities include a boat ramp with access to the 26 acre Emily Lake, swimming area, paved boat launch, year round fishing with a good panfish population and nearby hiking trails where you can hike, mountain bike and snowshoe in the winter. So, if you like to hike, fish, swim, boat or enjoy the convenience of being close to town, then the Emily Lake Recreation Area is the place for you, located 5 minutes west of Lac du Flambeau. Underdown Campground

Norway Lake Campground is located 8 miles southeast of Sidnaw MI, on the Kenton Ranger District. This two loop campground provides visitors with a unique camping experience among the towering Red Pines. Each campsite is naturally screened by vegetation. It features 27 drive-in sites that can accommodate tents, trailers and motor homes. Each site offers a wood table, fire ring, lantern post and parking spur. Three sets of vault toilets, two hand pumps for drinking water, and and a picnic shelter are located within the campground loops. Adjacent to the campground is a boat landing, parking areas, a beach, change house and picnic area.
