Forked Run State Park

Welcome to our campground located in Southeast Ohio in the Appalachian Valley on the shores of the majestic Muskingum River.   Enjoy camping in the beauty of the rolling hills, historic towns and the only manually operated river locks left in America.  We are a five minute drive to the historic downtown McConnelsville area, which offers breweries, restaurants, shopping, theaters and more. 

Riversedge Campground is designed by RVers for RVers with the camper in mind.  Our sites are “Big Rig Friendly” with 30 and 50 amp full hookups, fully capable of providing power to the largest units on the road. Connect to our free WIFI to stream your favorite shows, play games or surf the internet.  Come enjoy this incredible area for a night, weekend or longer.  Feel at home in your RV while staying as our guest on our beautiful property. 

Not an RVer and love to get back to nature in a tent, we have you covered with some of the most beautiful riverside tent sites in the area.

Just want to get away and leave the tent or RV at home, we also have fully furnished and stocked rentals for your overnight or weeklong stay.

Our amenities include, men and woman's bathhouse with hot showers, boat ramp and docks, fishing, water sports, canoe/kayak rentals and boat/trailer storage.  Your kids will enjoy our large playground. We also have a pavilion that can be used for weddings, family get togethers or any other event you can dream up.

Located about 1 hour SE from Columbus Ohio, 30 Minutes S of Zanesville Ohio or 1 hour N of Parkersburg WV, we are an easy destination for weekend, week long or seasonal fun.

Riversedge Campground 

There are 78 primitiive campsites and one group site available for organized groups. Latrines, waste drains, picnic tables and fire rings are provided 10 sites are available for campers with pets

Strouds Run State Park

Mountwood Park Family Campground offers 87 campsites suitable for tents, trailers and recreational vehicles. The campground has 16 full hookup sites, 64 sites with electric/water and 7 primitive sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Multiple bathhouses are located throughout the campground offering hot showers and clean restroom facilities. Firewood, ice, souvenirs and camping supplies are available from the campground host while on duty. Families can enjoy a variety of campground activities throughout the season. A playground and New Nature Trail are also available for registered campers.

Want to go camping but not in a tent? Then try one of Mountwood’s Primitive Cabins located in Mountwood Family Campground. Each cabin comes equipped with electric, two sets of bunk beds, ceiling fans/lights and a table with four chairs. Do you want to have a lake view from your tent? Do you want to step outside your campsite into your boat and start fishing at the morning first light? If so, one of Mountwood’s five Lakeside Campsites is for you. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The Lakeside Campsites are rented on a first come/first serve basis and are available for rent year round.

## Overview

Leith Run Campground provides a beautiful location on the Ohio River, where grassy campsites and picnic areas make for a comfortable getaway in the Wayne National Forest. The campground is equipped with modern conveniences like flush toilets and electricity. 

## Recreation

The campground provides access to the mighty Ohio River and the Willow Island Pool, where canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing are popular activities. A backwater estuary lies alongside the campground.   
  
A paved trail and a boardwalk with a gazebo offer not only wildlife viewing opportunities, but also an opportunity to access the estuary and surrounding wetlands area, where fishing is a favorite pastime. Anglers may catch bass, catfish and other species.   
  
Leith Run offers hiking opportunities, group picnic shelters and a playground for kids. A trailhead for the Scenic River Trail, which climbs to a bluff above the river, is available in the campground.

## Facilities

Leith Run offers single-family campsites (accommodating up to eight individuals) and group picnic shelters, most of which are accessible. Picnic tables, campfire rings, grills and electric hookups are provided, as are accessible flush toilets, showers and drinking water. A dump station is on-site.   
  
An adjacent picnic area, complete with shelters, is equipped with tables, electricity and grills. It also offers a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, scenic overlooks and a playground.

## Natural Features

The campground is located on the north banks of the beautiful Ohio River, just miles from the Ohio-West Virginia border, near the town of Newport, Ohio. A scenic hardwood-pine forest covers the campground, which has many waterfront sites. 

## Nearby Attractions

The Covered Bridge Scenic Byway passes by the campground and provides a romantic view of the countryside, complete with forested hills, open pastures and four 19th century covered bridges. Legend has it that it's a tradition for visitors passing over the covered bridges to hold their breath and make a wish.

The best camping near New River Gorge National River is anywhere you can find it. All campsites are primitive, first-come, first-served, and, best of all, free. Backcountry camping works the same way. You can park your van down by the river for free, as long as you’re self-sustaining. Amenities will be minimal at any of the nine campgrounds. Not all campgrounds are drive-in or RV accessible, so verify ahead of time. As long as you follow the park’s ordinances, you can camp here for up to 14 days.
