The Best Walk-In Camping Near Wagoner, West Virginia

We are a family-owned you-pick farm in Berryville, VA located along the Opequon Creek. Our farm is a place for picking pumpkins and berries (in the fall harvest season), camping at the creek, and fishing. It's very scenic and peaceful. We're near rivers, Civil War sites, I-81 (and several major highways), Winchester VA, Costco, and so much fun! We are certain that you will love it!

We are just now getting started, so please be patient with us while we give this a go! Campers will need to be self-sufficient and self-contained as this is NOT a KOA or other chain campground - you'll be "ruffin it" or glamping in your own portable palace! We are a farm first, and campers second, but the place is beautiful and we want other folks to be able to enjoy it as well. Staying here would be best for through-travelers and short visits, though longer visits are probably fine too (just email Blake and check dates). Larger RV's will want to check prior to arrival to verify weather and ground conditions. Some 4X4-only sites may be available for intrepid campers, as well as a few walk-in sites with a pretty sweet view! We have a filtered water station available for campers depending on vehicle size (text first if needed). Please take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!

Welcome to Cumberland MD. We have 2 campgrounds in close proximity to each other. Campground # 1 is called THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND. CAMPGROUND # 2 is called THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND. They are only 3 miles from each other. Book either location and enjoy both. The campground’s offer camping for RVs and Tents. They are only 1 mile from Canal Place in downtown Cumberland MD. And 5 miles from the Rocky Gap Casino and Resort. They offer Hiking and Cycling on the C and O CANAL NATION PARK , THE GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. They both have Non-isolated, isolated and Super isolated campsites. Firewood, boating, fishing, Swimming, hiking and Cycling is available at both locations.

Campground #1 THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 10410B Cumberland MD. 21502. It is by Tractor World 1/10 mile off of I 68 Exit 45, 2 miles from the National Trails. There are 60 campsites here. Full hookups are available on Five (5) sites for $10.00 EXTRA PER NIGHT. If you want HOOKUPS PLEASE LET THE HOST KNOW. HOOKUPS MUST BE PAID FOR WHEN YOU ARRIVE!! We have a Dump station, A flush toilet and A Hot shower HERE. That is Available in season. There is a unique Pond with a Dock and Canopy. Sorry Fishing is NOT allowed. There are many hiking trails. Be sure to visit the the CLIFF OVERLOOK on one of the trails. There is a Convenient store that is open 24/7.

CAMPGROUND # 2. THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 1 Elizabeth St. Cumberland MD. 21502. It is on 40 acres off of The Canal Parkway. There are 50 campsites. This campground is along THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE POTOMAC RIVER and the C and O NATIONAL PARK and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. There Is over 1 mile of River frontage and 2 River Islands. There are NO HOOKUPS and Showers here. Portable toilet are available in season. Generators are welcome. This location offers a 5 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom House for short term rental. Hillcrest River & Canal Tunnel River Campgrounds

PLEASE CHECK HipCamp site for Availability before booking with Dyrt. Enjoy one of our two large, beautiful and secluded sites with friends or family. We now have four sites. You should only see neighbors when going to bathhouse. Kayak, boat or tube(bring your own). Fish or watch wildlife. Nearby attractions if the river is not enough. Any site can host up to 30 people , depending on how many tents you bring. Cacapon River allows for fishing, kayaking/canoeing or tubing. You can put in upstream for a full day trip and camp overnight. Stoney Creek Country Store within a short walk for your fishing, necessities, milkshake, and subs/pizza. Almost Heaven Riverfront South site is a little closer to the bridge, but slightly bigger than the North site. It's also closer to the bathhouse and WiFi. It has best river access to kayak upstream. Almost Heaven Riverfront North site is a little more private. It is further downstream from the bridge and bathhouse. It has best river access to kayak downstream. You should be able to paddle back with relative ease. Each site gets a private (keyless/code entry) restroom/shower.



Stoney Creek Campground

## Overview

The Paw Paw Tunnel Campground is located at Mile 156 on the C&O Canal Towpath on the Maryland side of the Potomac River, across from the town of Paw Paw in West Virginia.

## Recreation

The most popular activities for Paw Paw Tunnel campers are hiking the Paw Paw Tunnel trails, biking the C&O Canal Towpath, kayaking and fishing. The local town of Paw Paw, WV, has a boat ramp for easy access to the Potomac just across the river via surface roads. Be sure to acquire a Maryland Fishing License for those age 16 or older.

## Facilities

There are 10 single campsites, each has a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Each site can accommodate eight people. If there is a larger group, reserve two sites next to each other. Portable toilets are available. Hamp pump water is available from April 15-November 1.

## Natural Features

Tucked in the mountains of Western Maryland and adjacent to Green Ridge State Forest, experience the history and culture of the area as well as its natural beauty, which is plentiful all times of the year, but especially during autumn. 

## Nearby Attractions

Green Ridge State Forest is a local park to continue your adventures. Cumberland is 25 miles west on MD 51.

**Cancellations**

A cancellation is the release of a confirmed reservation prior to the start of the defined late cancellation time frame which results in non-use by the original customer. 

**Camping and Day Use Facilities**

Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee.

**Late Cancellations or Cancellations within the Cut-off Window**

• Individual Campsites: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

• Group Facility: Customers who cancel a group overnight facility reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee.

Paw Paw Tunnel Campsite

## Overview

The Fifteen Mile Creek Campground is located at Mile 140 on the C&O Canal Towpath, in the town of Little Orleans upstream of Hancock and downstream of Paw Paw, WV, on the Maryland side of the of the Potomac River. The campsites are drive-in, large enough to park a small fifth wheel/travel trailer/RV/pop-out with a 20' ft. maximum.

## Recreation

The most popular activity for Fifteen Mile Creek campers is boating and fishing. The campground has a boat ramp for easy access to the Potomac River for kayakers and fisherman alike. Be sure to acquire a Maryland Fishing License for those age 16 or older.

## Facilities

The campground has nine single drive-in campsites. There is one group site available that does not have direct vehicle access. The group site can accommodate 30 people. Each single will accommodate up to eight people. Single campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Protected pit toilets are located between campsite #3 and campsite #4 along the dead end circle. Potable hand pump water is available from April 15 - October 31. No motor vehicle traffic is allowed on the towpath. Parking is allowed in the drive-in campsites and the adjacent parking lot for vehicles with trailers and support vehicles for the group site.

Fifteen Mile Creek Campground is adjacent to the confluence of Fifteen Mile Creek and the Potomac River on the Maryland side. Tucked in the mountains of Western Maryland and adjacent to Green Ridge State Forest, natural beauty is plentiful all times of the year, but especially during autumn. 

## Nearby Attractions

Greenridge State Forest and Billmeyer Wildlife Management Area are state managed areas available for additional activities. This area is remote.

Fifteen Mile Creek Campsite

Visitors to Rocky Gap State Park have the opportunity to enjoy some of Maryland’s most beautiful natural wonders like Evitts Mountain and makes a great place for camping near Washington. And campers in the area have the chance to experience even more beauty. With 278 campsites in the park, a large group site, cabins, yurts, and a chalet, there is ample opportunity to find the right camping option for you. 

 In addition to a variety of camping and lodging options, Rocky Gap State Park has another unique element within its bounds, the Rocky Gap Casino-Resort. RVers from all across the coast flock to Rocky Gap to place their bets and hit the back 9 at a golf course designed by the one and only Jack Nicklaus. 

 Once you’ve filled up on resort entertainment, return to the woods near your campsite and enjoy Rocky Gap’s natural resources like the popular Lake Habeeb. Home to largemouth bass in excess of 10 lbs, this lake is a angler’s paradise. Not only can you drop a line and indulge in the well stocked waters, this 243 acre lake also allows non-motorized boat trips and beach swimming.
