Easy to find

Clean grounds and easy to find from the interstate. Small park and outdoor pool. The laundry rooms and washhouse were extremely warm but otherwise okay. Free ice machine.

Good Verizon signal but WIFI at grounds is pretty much not existent. Pull through sites with a cement slab, picnic table,…

Almost heaven....

What a beautiful place, great campsite with plenty of room between neighbors, weather was perfect and the staff friendly.

Clean and well stocked restrooms, a nice playground and clean bath houses.

Kayaking is wonderful since boat over 10hp are not allowed.

Quiet and beautiful

We arrived on a Sunday and no one was there for us to check in with, which we found odd. Our next stop was the dump station to make sure there was running water and to our surprise, there wasn't. The only way to fill up with water was a hose bibb on the Ranger office at the front gate. The…

Stunning Fall Views

We love Wolf Run if you are just planning to chill at the campsite. Choose one of the “premium” sites for beautiful lakeside views! It’s pretty quiet and usually not busy.

If you are in to hiking, look elsewhere. There is a trail, but we have never been able to successfully follow it, as it…

Family Friendly

A very relaxing, family friendly place to camp! Visited here several times and the campground is always clean. If you have a boat, the lake is a lot of fun play on.

Higher end campground offers alot

Nice campground it was early in the camping season. Vegetation was just taking off so, pics are a little drab. Nice golf course, lodge, little ferry boat. Take the clubs, maybe the pole, great fishing!

Nice!

Super friendly camp host. He met us and drove us to the camp park because it was so dark. Spacious sites, and he is making amazing improvements to the park. Beautiful river setting.

Not too impressed

Just stayed here for one night with our 5th wheel when traveling home. I wasn’t too impressed. I thought it was expensive. The site was difficult to back into because everything was so narrow. I like to have a little bit of space when camping, but there were tent campers all around us. My…

Beautiful, peaceful setting

We came to Shadow Lake in October to camp for the month. To get here, you must drive through the rolling hills of Southern Ohio, which is absolutely gorgeous in October! The campground is beautiful and peaceful, especially at this time of year as most of the campers have either gone south, closed…

Great Free Camping

We drove thru Sand Hollow, Bicentennial and Maple Grove before choosing Hook Lake. All of these Jesse Owens State Park/AEP campgrounds are free for up to 14 days. While most of the sites at Hook Lake do not have cell coverage we were lucky enough to find that at the "top of the hill" we were able…

Quaint, & Quiet!!

Great smaller park, (1,000+acre) with easy access to the interstate. My Grandsons Love that the water is clearer than most lakes here in Ohio!! The campsites wrap around the lake, so most of them are Very close to the lake!! Since it is a smaller lake, there isn't any high speed water activities…

Diamond in the rough

Just outside the towns of Zanesville and Cumberland where you can find Ohio's famed Wilds there's heat opportunity for free camping. No reservations needed, check out different regions and pick a spot that is open and tugs at your heart. Enjoy views of lakes, butterflies and take the opportunity to…

Pretty, Free, but a dirty lake

I went for an overnight camping getaway. The campsite was fairly clean, had to pickup a few wrappers. I was excited to get a spot overlooking the water, with a table and fire pit. Not a really good spot for a tent, but I was able to find a soft spot off to the side. From up on the hill looking down…
