## Overview

 Panorama Point campground is located on the western shore of Baker Lake in the stunning Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Situated on the west side of the Cascades in Washington, the surrounding area is one of the most spectacular in the country, showcasing glacier-covered peaks, wide mountain meadows and old-growth forests, rich in history and outdoor opportunities. 
## Recreation

 In addition to being a prime location for boating, fishing, swimming, and picnicking , hikers and backpackers are especially fortunate to have access to a variety of spectacular trails along the lake and in the nearby Mt. Baker National Recreation Area. The Baker Lake and Baker River Trails are family friendly hikes that are a short drive from the campground. The Baker Lake trail starts on the south end of the lake in a stand of Douglas fir and travels 13 miles above the eastern shoreline of Baker Lake. Anderson Point with views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan is 2.5 miles from the trailheadand is a popular boat in camp, backpacking destination and lunch spot. The Baker River Trail starts at the north end of the lake and follows the river 2.25 miles upstream, through large old-growth into North Cascades National Park.
## Facilities

 With several sites located at the lake\'s edge and others in close vicinity, Panorama Point Campground offers visitors the ideal opportunity to camp near shoreline or under a canopy of trees. Panorama Point offers nine standard sites, accommodating both tent and RV camping. Picnic tables, vault toilets and drinking water are also available.
## Natural Features

 On a clear day, while driving to the campground, visitors will see Mt. Baker, the most prominent feature of the Mt. Baker Wilderness. Rising to an elevation of 10,781 feet, the active volcano from which the forest takes its name is perpetually snow-capped and mantled with an extensive network of creeping glaciers. Mt. Baker\'s summit, Grant Peak, is actually a 1,300-foot-deep mound of ice, which hides a massive volcanic crater. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Hike in the mountains above the lake in the Mt. Baker National Recreation Area or Mt. Baker Wilderness, or take some time to visit North Cascades National Park. This unique park is like no other place on earth. It features a deep blue lake surrounded by sheer, 2,000\' cliffs, two picturesque islands and a violent volcanic past. Hiking trails, a visitor center and educational programs are available.

 Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.

Panorama Point Campground

Our site was right next to the water and that was nice but we were also right next to a bachelor party and that was not nice. The tent pads from the two sites were very close to each other. We were able to pitch ours farther back in the site and get a little more privacy so that was good. The campground itself is nice but there were slot of noisy campers there.

Depends on the Site

This campground is on the shore of Baker lake, located about halfway up the West Side. 

This is my top pick to camp on Baker lake because you have lots of room and no crowds. Panorama Point only has only nine campsites with no hookups. The sites can accommodate either tent campers or self-contained RVs, and lie close to the shores of Baker Lake. Campsites at Panorama Point are well spaced from one another. The campground’s limited amenities include vault toilets, a boat ramp, garbage bins and water supply. Recreational activities include boating, fishing and hiking.

My Favorite spot on Baker Lake 

I love this lake. So pristine, even when the forest fires leave a hazy smoke layer over the entire lake. Situated on the western shore of Baker Lake, this is the best campground, providing nice views of the lake. If you cannot find a campsite along the road, Panorama Point should be your backup option. 

Note that during sockeye season, this area can be crowded so a reservation might be smart - just in case.

A hidden gem near a magnificent lake

Nearly all the sites at Panorama point have their own beach. Lots of tree cover and perfect views from every site, even if the sites are a bit crowded together. Picturesque and quiet little campground!

Perfect canoeing basecamp

I love this location. It's beautiful. The camping is great, right by the water. Plenty of hiking opportunities for any skill level. Bring a floaty or kayak! A little buggy.

Baker Lake

The views here definitely make this primitive campground worth the drive but the neighbors definitely dictate your level of enjoyment. Located right on Baker Lake, this is a great spot to camp at for your water activities. The sites have the typical fire Ring and table but they are so crowded you may as well just use your neighbors. 

Scenic but crowded

We camped in site 6 double site (best group site) and we loved it! We had our own access to the water and the fire pit is located with an excellent view of the mountains. They don't call in Panorama Point for nothing. Plenty of parking for 5 cars and 5 tents! The restroom was almost directly across the street. There was no camp host, firewood or working water when arrived in the summer of 2020, so we had to go to Swift Creek about a 1 mile up the road. The water was a little minerally there, so I would would recommend bringing your own drinking water. Mosquitos worse on the camp side closest to the day park due to standing water. One of our favorite spots in the PNW!

Great Group Site on the Water

Less than three hours from Seattle, sweeping mountain and lake views, bathrooms, parking, and clean campsites?! Honestly a car camping dream. This is one of my all-time favorite campgrounds, especially if you can snag one of the sites on the end of the tiny peninsula. You can’t see Mt Baker from the campsite, but head out onto the water and look behind you and there she is 😍
