Puget Sound is made of wetlands, pebble beaches, tidal flats, and salmon runs. You will find those features and more at Belfair State Park. 

Located on Hood Canal between Shelton and Bremerton, the park's gentle breezes offer ideal conditions for kite-flying, windsurfing and kicking back on a warm summer day. Anglers can choose from fresh and saltwater fishing, and kayakers can push off onto the Cascadia Marine Trail and explore the Puget Sound waterways. 

Belfair State Park is a 94-acre, year-round camping park on 3,720 feet of saltwater shoreline at the southern end of Hood Canal in western Washington.

This was our first camping trip of the season, for memorial day weekend. As first timers at this site, we were pleasantly surprised with the location and amenities. We had a tent site and had good shade/privacy. Would recommend a stay for those in WA looking for a nearby site!

Happened to snag a waterfront cancellation. Great beach loop. Two other loops were closed for construction and landscaping work. Remodeled woodsy sites are now smaller with curbs moved and new fencing and landscaping. Looks nice.

Woodsy or waterfront?

Tent camped here mid week last August. There’s a beach loop for RVs and a woods loop for tents &amp; smaller RVs. Overall pretty quiet, close to town, close to ATV trails &amp; dog friendly. The kids loved the park! The beach was great, water is rather warm for in the sound, it’s also pretty shallow which is great for the kids to play in.

Lots of Bird watching

Been coming here since I was a little kid. they've done a lot with the common grounds to make it more family-friendly over the years. But the campsites are still the same which are amazing.

Long time visiter

This park surprised us a lot. On the water of the Hood Canal, it offered more family activities than many of the parks around. The campground itself is situated close to the water with several loops, tightly packed together. You will be very close to your neighbor and every spot was filled. The bathrooms are newer and very clean and there weren’t signs of bears or wild animals in this park since it is close to the city. The parks main feature is the water where you can go play in the tide pools but it also has a giant field for other activities. We noticed a ton of locals came here for Sunday afternoon fun. 

Great family park!

Very popular spot on the canal. Lots of pull through sites. Hook ups with dump station. Not to far from the cities and just outside of town. 

Beautiful but busy

This campground is located on the northern side of Hood Canal and offers some great views of the water. About half the sites are in the woods, although they are all pretty close together. Some of the larger sites, including the RV sites, are right next to the beach, and you can set up chairs and have a beautiful view. These sites have little, if any, vegetation to provide privacy. A mid-week visit in early May found lots of sites open. The grounds and bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. There is a lot of open lawn, especially in the day use area, which would be great in the busy summer months. You need a Discover Pass for day use. These are required at pretty much all county and state campgrounds in Washington State. Right now they cost $30 per year. There is one Washington Water Trails site available for people arriving by human-powered boats (kayaks). It's first-come, first-served, with a picnic table and fire ring. 

On the shores of Hood Canal

I absolutely loved this campground. It has two very different loops: beach and tree. We stayed for 3 nights in the tree loop and it was so perfect. It rained a couple of nights but being surrounded by huge trees made it really cozy. Nice walking trails that follow creeks and go right along the sound. Playground, bath house, ice machines, ADA accessible sites with concrete pads around the fire pits. 
Would absolutely stay here again. 

Perfect fall camping spot 

Friendly staff, clean sites and facilities, coin operated showers.  This campground is located right on the hood canal which is filled with oysters beds.  Many people were harvesting the delicacy.  Town is 5 minutes down the road if you need something.
