My wife and I love coming to the big meadows campground. They are awesome. They get full quickly so make sure you reserve your campground wayy in advance! I recommend the D loop campgrounds they’re more into the nature I would say. Very quiet at night and very relaxing.
The good: excellent trail to Overall Run Falls and quick drive to Elkwallow Wayside. Sites are tight but enough brush that you don’t feel your neighbor is on your doorstep. The generator free sites and those to the Northeast side of the campground have walk in tent area that will make you feel even…
This was a short overnight for me just to get my camper organized for a longer trip. I love the Shenandoah national park. Check in was easy - there were plenty of spots to choose from - no hookups here - I circled and picked spot 57 - a quiet wooded site. The bathrooms were reasonably clean- the…
Just a campground. Our site wasn’t tight to get in. Actually pretty spacious. Hookups are convenient and the site is pretty level. Overall, it’s just a campground. It’s close to our home, about 30 minutes away so more or less it’s just a close getaway for our family.
Had a blast with friends. Renting group site B was the perfect size for the 10 of us. It was only a short walk from the parking lot on a gravel path which made carrying our gear a breeze!
Spent one night here. Had a reservation, but it was empty so drove around and found a site. Level sites are an issue, but if you search, you will find! It was peaceful and relaxing. We had most of the campground to ourselves. Bad weather, so didn’t get to do much. Lots of trails from this…
If you, like me, hate making reservations over the phone, it was worth it! Quick, simple, painless process.
Restrooms/showers: very clean, spacious, centrally located. My spot was in the back row and I didn't mind the walk
Lots: lots are really staggered/ set back from each other so…

Overall great sites, not many trees so some are exposed. There is a cool skate park right near the campground which is great if you like to use it, but can get a little loud in the evening. They also had on spot lights once dark. Great hiking, close to Great Falls. Kids also loved the water park!…

The title says it all, the sites are extremely close. Tent campers are an absolute afterthought here, as the sites are in the back and the bathhouse is in the front. But hey, if you can afford a literal house on wheels, you might enjoy this place. The amenities are nice I guess.
Everything you need for a mountain camping experience.
Not so bad for a quick stop, fairly spread out spaces, the highway noise and bathrooms would be the big down side. But there was WiFi which was great considering the area in the mountains.
Really enjoyed this park especially since it is so close to Washington DC. The sites were fairly level and shaded with a fire ring and picnic table. Verizon cell coverage was good. The comfort house with showers and flush toilets was clean. My only minor complaint would be during the weekend there…
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely creek, nice trees and grass, visiting ducks.
Cons: -Campground is right in the middle of suburban section of a town. Our campsite was directly accross the street from a house. -Hookups were located in such a way that we had to drive right up to the edge of the creek.…

Had a guys weekend here with my Brother and my 4 year old son. Had a great time. Every park ranger we met was nice and helpful.
There is only one camping loop which connects to the marina/park area via a foot bridge. With camping you were granted boat launching access. There was a nice fishing…
Some campgrounds are close to trails and they are separated nicely so you have room to set up extra things. The campground sites are pretty big in length as well. Will come back many more times.
